The case of anthrax in Belarus
Anthrax, which is called the “Siberian ulcer” beyond our eastern border, was found in a horse. This happened during a routine examination of the meat of an animal that died. The area of the village was disinfected. All livestock will be vaccinated against anthrax. Vets and sanitary specialists monitor the health of animals on an ongoing basis. The authorities assured the residents that there would be no massive utilization of healthy farm animals.
The corpse of the infected horse was burned. There have also been no reports of anthrax infections among the villagers. According to the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Agriculture of Belarus, Olga Kotishevska, the last detection of anthrax in an animal in Belarus was 20 years ago.
Infection with anthrax
