The roots are dug up in the fall, when they have accumulated useful substances. Then the roots are washed and dried. Grind before use.
From fireweed, you can prepare excellent healing tea, which was first prepared in Russia in the village of Koporye and was given the same name – Koporye tea.
To have such a historical drink, it is enough to prepare narrow-leaved fireweed using the following technology:
- assemble
- dry up
- grind
- ferment
- dry
For raw materials, the leaves are collected at the height of the flowering fireweed. The plant itself does not need to be cut off, just the upper leaves on the inflorescences are cut off from the stem (the lower large ones are not taken) and the flowers separately. At home, the leaves are laid out in a thin layer for drying. Flowers just need to dry well. After the leaves lie in the shade for a couple of hours, they are twisted into bundles in the form of cigars, but so that the juice is not squeezed out too much.
Next comes the fermentation time. Raw materials are laid out on a baking sheet and covered with a damp cloth. So it should lie for a day at a temperature of 25 degrees.
And finally, the leaves of the fireweed are dried. First, the bundles of grass are cut into small pieces, while being careful not to get moldy areas. Then they are dried in an oven or a Russian oven at a temperature of 100 degrees, stirring occasionally. The result is a dark, almost black tea. Store it in a dry place and brew it at the rate of 2 teaspoons per glass of boiling water. Dry flowers can be added for aroma.
Dry Koporye tea can be mixed with black tea in equal parts. It turns out an incredibly tasty drink
