Finger food is not much different from an aperitif – one bite of snacks before the main meal. It can be either soup or dessert – the main thing is that the portion is miniature.
Fingerfood is translated from English as “finger food”. And in fact, the culture of eating food with your hands is spread all over the world. The restaurant serving, of course, is designed not to hold the dish in your hands for a long time – a portion of figurine is equal to one bite.
In the national cuisine of any country there are dishes that are usually eaten by hand. Somewhere it seems even strange, because eating pizza with your hands is still all right, but Azerbaijani pilaf is somewhat unusual. Georgian khinkali, Mexican fajitos, burgers, flatbreads – all this food is consumed without cutlery.
Finger food supporters believe that there should be no intermediary between food and a person. What is much more natural to eat with your fingers than to work with a knife and fork. That food should be felt not only with the receptors of the tongue, but also with the hands – to enjoy the structure and form.
Finger food is a great idea for picnics and house parties. Plenty of small sandwiches, canapes, chopped fruits and vegetables, meat and fish, tartins, flatbreads, vegetable rolls – and you can enjoy nature instead of sitting at the table.
