Metex is a solution for injection in ampoules. It is used in patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. The drug is administered intravenously by a person qualified to do so. It is packed in special glass ampoules.
What is Metex and when to use it?
Metex is a clear yellow-brown solution. The solution is contained in ampoules that are taken into a syringe and injected into the patient. Metex must be administered by a qualified person, it is injected under the skin or intramuscularly.
There are many indications for the use of this drug, including:
- rheumatoid arthritis;
- idiopathic arthritis (if your current anti-inflammatory drugs are not working);
- severe and complicated to treat psoriasis;
- Crohn’s disease (during thiopurine intolerance).
Administration and dosing method of Metex
The drug should be prescribed only by a doctor, after prior diagnosis of the patient’s condition. Each injection of the preparation should take place in sterile conditions under the supervision of qualified personnel. Importantly, Metex is administered once a week. The physician should make the patient aware in advance that the ampoules should be administered on the same day, at the same time, once a week. In patients diagnosed with different forms of the disease, the administration of the drug is dependent and may differ slightly in terms of milliliters.
Who shouldn’t use Metex?
This substance should not be used by people who are allergic to any of its ingredients. Persons abusing alcohol, suffering from serious liver and kidney disorders, as well as those with diagnosed blood dyscrasias are excluded from taking Metex. Metex cannot be injected into people suffering from tuberculosis, immunosuppressed and HIV-infected. Peptic ulcer disease also prevents you from taking this drug. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should also not take Metex. Patients should be carefully monitored for any side effects to the drug. If

Side effects of Metex
Most often, patients complain of problems with the digestive and hematopoietic systems. Some people taking the drug complain of: anemia, drowsiness, weakness, fatigue, pneumonia, frequent headaches, inflammation of the oral mucosa, nausea, reluctance to eat, erythema or itching.
If we notice other symptoms, they will most likely be caused by an increase in the dose of medication. About any problems, you should inform your doctor, who will either stop taking the drug or reduce its dose.
How to store Metex?
The product should be protected from the world, but also from children. Store it below 25 degrees. The syringe and the ampoule are packed in a special bottle in a 1 milliliter bottle. The product has a 2-year shelf life.
