Festival Multicultural Tapapies 2018

There is little left to kick off the Multicultural Festival of Tapa y la Música in the Lavapiés neighborhood

The gastronomic and musical event, which is championed by the Lavapiés Merchants Association, known as Tapapiés, is a clear benchmark of sustainability and search for dissemination of local commerce and in the coming days will celebrate its eighth edition, which since its inception we have echoed in our magazine.

Another feature that defines the district of the capital is solidarity and the ability to integrate everyone and in the gastronomic field it will not be less, since the tapas route of this edition includes a total of 130 tapas of the Of which about 40 do not have food of animal origin and 39 of them are or can be adapted to be gluten-free.

As in the previous editions of Tapapiés, diversity also comes from the music, with a total of 66 performances by more than 30 groups of different styles that will meet throughout the 10 days of performances and gastronomic shows of the local hospitality.

From October 18 to 28, residents and visitors to the neighborhood will be able to enjoy live performances on Fridays and Sundays from 13:30 p.m. to 15:30 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 20:30 p.m. to 22:30 p.m. in the stages that have been installed along the streets and squares of District 12 of Lavapies.

To accompany leisure, gastronomy will once again be the highlight of the gastronomic activity of the Madrid party

Tapas and good taste for a long-awaited event

As a sample of the sustainable spirit of the multicultural event of Tapapiés, the culinary snacks prepared by the local hospitality industry will be served in earthenware, glass or other compostable materials, which together with the inclusion in the elaboration of some Km 0 ingredient, will be your collaboration bet with the neighborhood stores.

These materials and ingredients can be purchased at grocery stores and neighborhood market stalls such as organic cabbages from Toledo, chistorra from Leganés, asparagus from Aranjuez or wine from San Martín de Valdeiglesias, among others …

A hundred long hospitality establishments between bars, restaurants and market stalls in the neighborhood, already heat the stoves to offer an authentic culinary multiculturalism as a sample of its residents and a reflection of the integration or miscegenation between neighbors, shops and gastronomy.

A leisure proposal full of diversity and with many notes of good taste that will offer tapas between 1,50 and 2,50 euros, if it is accompanied by a beer or bottle from the sponsor of the event, the Estrella Damm brewery.

Many plans, activities and adventures for the little ones in the house in the company of their relatives, being able to participate in music weekends, the Circo de Kanbahiota Trup, with trapeze artists, acrobats, tightrope walkers and comedians live and direct or the smallest so-called pocket, the circus of Maximum Optimum.

Traditional culture from the hand of Theater on Wheels, La Barraca, honoring the Lorca theater or The Tartana, are some of the references of the interpretation that during those days will accompany the visitor with their shows.
