Festbier

A mild lager with a distinct malt flavor. Moderately strong, drinkable. The bouquet has sweet-bread notes with floral nuances, but the taste of caramel or biscuit indicates a violation of the recipe. Fermentation is pure.

Color – yellow or gold, without orange-amber hues. The foam can be white or creamy.

The main note of the bouquet is malt sweetness against the background of hop bitterness. The drink is medium-bodied, not dry, rounded. Alcohol is felt, but does not affect the drinkability of the variety.

Festbier is a group of beers served at major German beer festivals. Outside of Germany, you can find the Oktoberfest craft style, but it is based on March beer, not Festbier.

The traditional festival beer was amber and quite heavy, so in the 1970s Paulaner developed a new style, and since 1990 the Munich authorities have adopted it as a model. Such a light and drinkable beer allows you to order a few liters of intoxicating drink and stay with a more or less clear head, so it is better suited for holidays.

It is made on the basis of several types of malt: Munich, Vienna, Pils, the choice of yeast depends on the manufacturer.

The Festbier style is lighter than Märzen and stronger than Helles. Not as malty as a Maybock.
