Fertilizer “Kemira”: efficiency of application, shelf life

Kemira is a complex mineral fertilizer based on a nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium complex with additional additives selected specifically for different types of horticultural and horticultural crops. Application is possible both for seedlings and at the stage of ovaries, as well as for trees.

Fertilizer description

Kemira is sold in the form of granules or powder, packaged in bags of different weights, it is also found in liquid form. The most common types: Kemira Lux and Kemira Universal. The fertilizer was developed by a Finnish company taking into account “future technologies” and therefore is one of the most effective. In addition to the most sought-after NPK complex (i.e., nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium), each granule contains other trace elements: magnesium, manganese, boron and so on. Conversely, some substances can be excluded from the composition, so Kemira Combi does not contain calcium and therefore can be used on alkaline soils.

Fertilizer can be used both in dry form, introducing into the soil by digging, the granules gradually release substances useful for plants in an easily digestible form and, thus, have a long-term beneficial effect. You can use the Universal variety for seedlings both when planting seeds and when transplanting young plants into holes. The granules must be brought into the wells and mixed with the ground, so that all useful substances will be concentrated in the access zone.

Varieties for different plants

As the name implies, Kemira Universal is suitable for all plants, all types of soils, as well as for any method of application, from falling asleep in the hole when planting seedlings and ending with drip irrigation. An additional advantage of this variety is the content of selenium, which has a beneficial effect on the taste of the fruit. Kemira Universal can also be used for ornamental lawns and flowers. Kemira Lux contains a higher percentage of all useful substances and therefore is well suited for growing plants indoors, in greenhouses, as well as for house flowers, and, of course, for leafy greens and seedlings. It is also worth paying attention to the Hydro variety, which can be used for foliar dressing or specialized varieties for roses, for lawn grasses, coniferous, autumn (useful for all plants that winter in open ground) and for specific types of crops. So, Kemira potato has a high content of potassium. The use of this fertilizer increases the yield of potatoes up to thirty percent and improves the keeping quality of tubers.

How to apply

Kemira is used both in dry and liquid form, it can be evenly applied to the soil when digging, however, this is a wasteful method. It is better to concentrate all the useful substances near the root of the plant. This can be done, for example, by pouring granules into the hole when planting seedlings and mixing with the soil. This is an important condition – in no case should direct contact of the granules with the roots be allowed.

Another way is drip irrigation. For him, you need to prepare a solution with a concentration of 0,05%, that is, half a gram of Kemira Lux per liter of water. If necessary, top dressing can be repeated after seven to ten days. Variety Universal is a fertilizer that is applied to the soil based on a minimum rate of 80 grams per square meter. This is enough for lettuce, dill, radish or onion. For sweet peppers, cucumbers, carrots, you need one hundred to one hundred grams per square meter.

The greatest need for this fertilizer is experienced by tomatoes and legumes of late varieties – up to one hundred and fifty grams. At the same time, the manufacturer recommends fertilizing in two stages – about two-thirds of the norm at planting, the rest in the form of one or two top dressings. The instructions on the packaging will help you figure out the consumption rates. For potatoes, fertilizer can be used twice – when planting and a month and a half after it. 15-20 grams of granules are poured into the hole and mixed with the soil, so that fertilizer particles do not fall directly on the tubers. The second top dressing is carried out simultaneously with hilling. Dry fertilizer should be applied to moist soil. The maximum rate is up to forty grams per square meter, but it should be distributed unevenly, scattering more around each of the bushes.

To grow cabbage, Kemira should be brought to the garden during spring digging. The second top dressing is carried out one and a half months after planting seedlings, simultaneously with loosening and hilling. If necessary, you can feed the cabbage again.

Consumption rates – from 60 to 100 grams of fertilizer before planting, and 30-40 grams during the growing season. If you plan three top dressings, you need to reduce the amount of Kemira at the first application.

Fertilizer can be used in liquid form for watering seedlings or during the growing season, but in this case, half the rate should be applied. You can use this fertilizer for berry crops and fruit trees, from 30 grams per square meter for garden strawberries, up to ninety grams for trees and one hundred to one hundred and twenty grams for currants, raspberries and gooseberries. Universal safety measures at work – use gloves, dissolve the powder or granules (dilute the concentrate) with room temperature water in a non-food plastic dish and wash it thoroughly after use, keep fertilizer and equipment out of the reach of children and pets, separate from the storage area food and feed.

Terms of storage and use

Shelf life of Kemira Lux and Kemira Universal in dry form is up to five years. Storage conditions are standard: in a cool, dry place out of the reach of children, in original packaging. Kemira Lux liquid in unopened factory containers is also stored for five years, but an open bottle must be used within one season. However, watering solution cannot be stored for a long time, so if you need to water a small number of plants, you need to dilute as much fertilizer as can be used at one time. Kemira is one of the most popular fertilizers, which has long established itself in the market from the best side. We wish you good harvests.
