Fenspogal syrup – indications, contraindications, dosage, side effects

Fenspogal syrup is an anti-inflammatory and bronchodilator drug. The drug is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of cough and expectoration in the course of inflammatory diseases of the bronchi and lungs. The active substance of the preparation is fenspiride, which soothes inflammatory symptoms in the form of swelling and irritation. Do not use the drug during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The medicine is in the form of a prescription syrup.

Fenspogal syrup – indications for use

Fenspogal syrup is a drug recommended for the symptomatic treatment of inflammatory diseases of the bronchi and lungs:

  1. cough,
  2. expectoration.

Treatment with the drug must not delay the start of antibiotics, if there is a need for their use.

Fenspogal syrup and contraindications

There are the following contraindications to taking Fenspogal syrup:

  1. allergy to any ingredient of the preparation,
  2. use in children up to the age of 2,
  3. use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Drug dosage

Fenspogal is in the form of a syrup for oral use. Do not exceed the recommended dose as it may endanger your life or health. A measuring cup is attached to the package, which makes it easy to measure the desired dose.

  1. Adults: 45-90 ml daily.
  2. Children after 2 years of age: 4 mg / kg body weight daily, i.e. children weighing less than 10 kg: 10-20 ml daily.
  3. Children weighing more than 10 kg: 30-60 ml daily.

Fenspogal syrup – warnings

  1. People with fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency should not use the preparation because it contains sucrose.
  2. 5 ml of syrup contains 2,85 g of sucrose, therefore diabetics should take this into account.
  3. The syrup contains methyl and propyl parahydroxybenzoate, which may cause an allergic reaction (including a delayed type).
  4. The glycerol contained in the drug can cause headaches, stomach upset and diarrhea, because 5 ml of the syrup contains 1 g of glycerol.
  5. Fenspogal syrup may have an influence on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machines / machines due to its antihistamine effect, which may cause drowsiness.

Fenspogal syrup and side effects

The use of Fenspogal syrup may lead to the following side effects:

  1. gastrointestinal disorders,
  2. nausea,
  3. epigastric pain,
  4. somnolence,
  5. increase in heart rate, with dose reduction
  6. allergic reactions (erythema, rash, urticaria, angioedema, erythema turning into permanent discoloration).
