Febrile form of schizophrenia: what is its danger?

Schizophrenia is a disease in itself dangerous for both the patient and the people around him. It is clear that we are talking about those who are not treated and start the course of the disease. Such people most often end their lives by suicide, die from alcoholism or drug addiction, go into crime or harm other people. But this is not always the case with schizophrenics. There are many different manifestations of this disease. With the weakest of them, people can quite exist in society, although their emotions are sometimes overly expressed. But it won’t harm anyone. That is why it is so important to establish the form and severity of mental deviation.

For example, the febrile form of schizophrenia is dangerous not for others, but for the patient himself. Let’s take a look at why this is so.

Features of febrile schizophrenia

Doctors call this disease fatal. Why? Because her worst symptom is hyperthermia. It is accompanied by convulsions, the development of a catatonic syndrome, clouding of consciousness. If we talk about catatonic disorder, then it consists of:

  • excessive excitement or complete stupor;
  • negative reactions — this may be a refusal to fulfill a request, a deliberate action in the opposite direction, that is, the patient does everything with accuracy, but vice versa from the requests of the doctor or other people;
  • the desire to hide the face under clothes or a blanket;
  • tendency to repeat movements after others, stereotyped behavior;
  • desire to repeat words and phrases spoken by other people;
  • the patient often keeps his head above the pillow, while he is in a supine position.

Attacks begin with an excited state. After it, a fever immediately develops, which cannot be explained by any habitual disease. Also, the patient has bright external signs:

  • redness of the skin;
  • inflammation on the cheeks;
  • dry lips;
  • fury and sparkle in the eyes.

Typical for this form of schizophrenia is an external sign in the form of bloody blisters on the body and face. Over time, these neoplasms open up, their contents pour out, and they themselves dry out.

Severe consequences of the disease

This form of schizophrenia leads to terrifying consequences. In addition to the fact that the appearance of a person and his skin are highly mutated, a patient can also develop apathy and depression against this background. Schizophrenia leads to edema of the brain and respiratory tract, liver and kidney failure. With such symptoms, the patient needs urgent hospitalization.

Schizophrenia is not an ambiguous disease. Just one missing symptom, which has not yet manifested itself in the patient, can change the clinical picture and the wrong form of pathology will be established.

This disease is considered the most expensive in the world, for the simple reason that large sums of money will be needed for treatment. Therapy includes several areas: psychoanalysis, medication, hypnosis and many others, depending on the severity of the disease and its form.

Febrile form of schizophrenia: what is its danger?

In addition, it is schizophrenia that carries a special danger, which concerns suicidal thoughts. Every patient, at least once, feels that he is ready to die. And these thoughts are only accumulating in patients’ heads and are actively developing. Accordingly, suicidal thoughts come more and more often, and then the person already suggests what actions need to be performed for this. In fact, this dangerous disease can be fatal if relatives and friends, doctors and other adequate people do not help a patient with schizophrenia in a timely manner.
