Race affects how our face changes with age, experts say, and understanding the racial characteristics of aging allows us to focus on those problems to which there is a predisposition. “Race ages differently,” says Roland Bazin, an expert at the L’Oreal Research Center. – Our research has shown that wrinkles on the bridge of the nose and age spots are characteristic of Asians – those who belong to the Mongoloid race. But wrinkles “crow’s feet”, nasolabial folds, ptosis (omission) of the skin of the lower part of the face develop much earlier in Europeans. In addition to racial characteristics, sociocultural factors also influence the type of facial aging: “The peculiarities of articulation characteristic of the national language make certain muscle groups work,” explains Marie-Helene Lair, research expert at Chanel Laboratories. “Therefore, mimic wrinkles, for example, in Americans and Japanese are localized in different areas of the face.”
