How to clean a faux fur coat at home
If you want to clean an artificial fur coat, home conditions are quite suitable for this, there is no need to go to dry cleaning. To perform this procedure as gently but as efficiently as possible, use one of the following methods:
• hang a fur coat on a shoulder and cover it with fine sawdust or semolina. Carefully comb out any sawdust or grain with a long, thick bristle brush. All dust and dirt will come out together with sawdust;
• Dissolve a small amount of dishwashing liquid in water and pour the mixture into a spray bottle. Lightly wet the fur with the mixture, comb it well with a brush and let dry;
• Moisten a white sheet with water and lay it on the floor. Place the fur coat on top and carefully knock it out with a rolling pin on both sides. Hang the coat on a hanger and let it dry. All dirt will remain on the sheet;
• mix lemon juice and water in proportions 1: 1. Using a sponge, apply the mixture to the fur, moving in the direction of the pile, comb it with a wide-toothed comb and let dry completely.
You can use either one of the methods described (if the clothes are not too dirty), or a combination of them. For example, first clean the coat with sawdust and then with lemon juice. This way you won’t give dirt a chance.
Cleaning a white faux fur coat
To clean a faux white fur coat, you can use hydrogen peroxide or household blue. These products will not only cleanse the dirt well without damaging the fur, but will also return it to its original whiteness.
Dissolve hydrogen peroxide in water at the rate of 1 tbsp. l. for 1 liter of water. Pour the resulting mixture into a spray bottle and spray over the entire length of the fur. After that, hang the fur coat in fresh air. It is very important to choose a sunny day for cleaning, as the sun has a slight whitening effect. After the fur is completely dry, comb it with a comb.
Make a pale blue solution from lukewarm water and blue. Lightly moisten a sponge with the mixture and run over the fur. Dry your fur coat at room temperature.
The faux fur coat requires cleaning at the end of each season. Do not neglect this procedure so that your fur coat will serve you for more than one year.
