Fat affects the brain

A recent study by the Dallas Medical Center (USA) shows that fats from certain foods, such as ice cream and hamburgers, go directly to the brain, significantly altering its entire structure.

Once there, the fat molecules cause the brain to send signals to all the cells in the body, telling them to ignore the appetite-suppressing signals. Our body receives these signals from leptin and insulin – hormones that regulate metabolic processes and weight levels. Moreover, just one hamburger or one glass of ice cream changes the structure of the brain for 3 days, during which a person ceases to control his appetite.

“Usually our body is programmed to tell the brain when the body is full and does not need additional food. But this is not always the case, especially after we eat something tasty, – scientists comment. “What we were able to prove with this study is that the chemistry of the human brain can change in a matter of days.”

In the same study, scientists were able to find one special type of fat that is able to restore the mechanism of the brain. This substance is called palmatic and is found in ham, butter, cheese and milk.
