Fastum is a drug used in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain caused by injuries, acute pain in the lumbar region in the course of discopathy and local treatment of inflammation in peripheral osteoarthritis.

ACTION
Fastum is a topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
Fastum – indications and dosage
Fastum is an over-the-counter gel recommended for use:
- for musculoskeletal pain after injuries,
- in acute lumbar pain (in discopathy),
- in the local treatment of inflammation in the course of degeneration of peripheral joints.
Dosage
Fastum is a gel and is intended for topical application to the skin. After each use, remember to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Fastum gel should not be used in children under 15 years of age, and it must not be used for more than 7 days without consulting a doctor.
Adults and adolescents after the age of 15:
Massage 3-5 cm of the gel gently into the skin 1-2 × / day. Do not use under an occlusive dressing.
Fastum – contraindications to use
Contraindications to the use of Fastum gel are:
- hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation, acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
- use in pregnant women from the 6th month,
- application during breastfeeding,
- use in children and adolescents up to 15 years of age.
Fastum – warnings
- It is not recommended to use the ointment for more than 7 days without consulting a doctor.
- The gel should not be applied to large surfaces.
- The recommended doses should be followed.
- In the event of the appearance of various changes on the skin, application of Fastum should be discontinued.
- The gel should not be applied to the mucous membranes (e.g. genital or eye).
- Do not use Fastum ointment under occlusive dressings.
- People with heart failure or impaired kidney and liver function should exercise caution.
- Protective gloves should be used when massaging the gel into the skin for a long time.
- 2 weeks after finishing the treatment with Fastum gel, exposure to the sun (including solarium) should be avoided.
- Pregnant women cannot use the gel from the 6th month onwards.
- Pregnant women up to the 5th month may use the gel only after consulting a doctor and only if necessary.
- The preparation should not be used during breastfeeding.
Fastum with other drugs
It should be remembered that only about 5% of Fastum applied topically is absorbed into the blood, so interactions with other preparations are of little importance. However, patients using oral anticoagulants should be careful.
Fastum – side effects
When using Fastum gel
- the following may uncommonly occur: eczema, pruritus, erythema,
- rarely may occur: photosensitivity, blistering eczema, urticaria,
- very rarely the following may occur: anaphylactic reaction, hypersensitivity reactions, gastric and / or duodenal ulcer disease, gastrointestinal bleeding, diarrhea, contact dermatitis, burning, angioedema, renal failure or worsening of renal dysfunction.
