Like any diet, starvation has its supporters, but there are also people who believe that it is a devastating diet for the body. There is a large group that claims that fasting has nothing to do with a slimming diet, but its proponents believe that fasting is the perfect solution to cleanse the body of toxins.
Hunger strike – what is it?
A hunger strike arouses extreme emotions. What is? Fasting is the so-called cleansing diet, the main purpose of which is to cleanse the body of any toxic substances that may poison the body. A short fast should not have negative consequences, but a person who adopts this type of diet must be completely healthy. Toxins that can enter the body through food, from the air inhaled, and can be harmful to the proper functioning of the body and mind. The harmful substances can lead to migraines, problems with circulation, digestion and joints. When we stop eating, the body turns on the mechanism of burning what it has available, i.e. the deposited fat and toxins.
Fasting – types
Fasting is not only a slimming diet, as it can also be part of your treatment. So what are the types of fasting?
- Diet hunger – its main goal is to lose weight and regain shape. It is a diet that requires full control of the slimming person, as taking too long can lead to serious problems with the liver and kidneys. Fasting as a slimming diet may last up to 2 days. Unfortunately, the yo-yo effect very often appears after the end of the diet.
- Medical fasting – it is a diet prescribed by a doctor, most often in the case of advanced asthma and, of course, obesity. Medical fasting is also indicated in the case of major stomach problems. It should last a maximum of 6 days, after which the body regains its immunity.
- Cleansing fast – is part of a slimming diet. Its main task is to eliminate all toxins in the body. It should be used for a maximum of 2 days. In this type of fasting, fasting can be effective in the fight against migraine headaches, as well as with problems with the skin.
What exactly is fasting? Of course, the main rule is to stop eating altogether and only drink water. Some people recommend drinking teas and cleansing herbs. Fasting should not last long, a one-day detox can have a beneficial effect on the functioning of the body and a better mental well-being. If we decide on a longer cleansing diet in the form of fasting, consult a doctor and dietitian.
Before starting the fast, you need to prepare the body, for example, a few days before starting the diet, you need to eat low-calorie meals so that the body does not get shocked when the starvation starts. After this type of diet, the yo-yo effect may appear, so you should gradually return to your normal menu.
There are advantages and disadvantages to starvation. The first are, first of all, problems with the nervous system, liver, kidneys and stomach. The advantages include counteracting allergies, protection against circulatory and digestive system disorders. Fasting also helps in the fight against cellulite, acne and atopic dermatitis.
