Fashion trend: wooden country houses

The walls of the building were erected from pine beams, pre-treated with fire retardant and antiseptic compounds. The surface of the wood is treated with an oil-based impregnation and retains its natural light color. Against this background, the light brown frames of the wooden windows stand out expressively, creating an original geometric ornament.

The interfloor overlap is made of wooden beams and is equipped with ecowool soundproofing. The gable roof of the house, which has a rafter structure of solid planks, is insulated with mineral wool 250 mm thick and protected by steam and waterproofing. The roof is made of bituminous shingles.

Merging with nature, penetrating into its depth is the idea behind the architectural and design concept of this house. Hence – the use of environmentally friendly materials, simplicity of forms, openness to the outside – in a word, everything that has long been a kind of hallmark of Finnish wooden architecture.

The architecture is carefully blended into the natural environment with the utmost attention to the preservation of the landscape.

There are large double-height windows in the living room area. The delicate pistachio color of the wooden furniture in the kitchen-dining room creates a feeling of spring freshness. It is supported by a spectacular drapery of light fabrics on the window.

The fireplace is equipped with a large cassette-type firebox. Thanks to the conveniently opening double-leaf doors, it can also be used as a hearth for roasts. To do this, there are all the necessary accessories next to the fireplace: a forged spit, skewers, etc.

A wooden staircase with mortise steps leads to the second floor. Dark brown and light wood tones allow to emphasize structural elements.

In each bedroom, in addition to the usual windows at the head of the bed, small narrow windows are made, visually expanding the room.

Textile decor in folk style (curtains with floral patterns, quilted bedspreads) add a unique rustic flavor to the interior of the bedrooms. Solid wood furniture is compact and very practical.

On the second floor, pine planks are laid on the floor, and the rooms are heated by wall-mounted electric convectors.

The interior of the house is very practical. Despite the modest area (120 m²), there is enough space to live comfortably.

The building has three bedrooms on the first floor and two on the second, as well as three bathrooms with showers (two on the first floor and one on the second).

The spacious hall in front of the private rooms on the upper floor serves as a place for a relaxing break.

In addition, on the ground floor there is a cozy living room with a large fireplace, adjoined by a dining area and a compact kitchen.

One of the advantages of the building is a spacious terrace on the ground floor level. Since the house is built on a slope, it is raised 1,5 m above the ground. On one side, it rests on the foundation, and on the other, it is supported by pillars of wood and wild stone. The terrace can be accessed via wooden stairs directly from the street.

The terrace has a two-level composition. The spacious central part (overlooking the windows of the living room and dining room) is the lower level. Here, if desired, a small company can relax – just put garden furniture. In turn, on the sides of the central part there are two more small platforms (to get to them, you need to climb two steps up the short ladders). They serve as a kind of nooks for secluded relaxation. One of these areas communicates with the bedroom located on the ground floor, the second has an exit from the dining area.

The country style, taken as the basis for the artistic concept of the interior, makes it possible to realize the idea of ​​an ecological dwelling. The walls, made of polished timber, do not need additional finishing and create a wonderful backdrop for wooden furniture, linen curtains with unpretentious patterns and decorative panels in folk style.

Since the ground floor has electric underfloor heating, porcelain stoneware tiles are used as the flooring. It is durable and practical, and its brownish-brick tone is harmoniously combined with the color of natural wood.

The massive facade of the fireplace is made of plasterboard along metal guides and tiled with gray ceramic tiles resembling natural stone.

In addition, decorative bands of tiles with a blue pattern associated with Dutch tiles are laid along the perimeter of the firebox and in the upper part of the facade.

This motif can be heard both in the living room (a ceramic panel with an ornamental frame) and in the staircase area (a belt of blue ceramic squares along the top of the wall). The kitchen apron is decorated with the same tiles.
