Fango – application, course, indications. Mud treatment for a healthy organism

Fango is the name for a mud rich in minerals and nutrients. Fango mud is extracted from natural thermal springs. A fang can also be volcanic tuff, a type of sedimentary pyroclastic rock. At a temperature of about 50 degrees Celsius, the fango turns into a liquid.

The physical properties of fango make it ideal for medical and aesthetic treatments. Treatments with fango are aimed at stimulating the work of the circulatory system and stimulating the production of leukocytes responsible, among others, for combating harmful microbes.

The healing properties of Fango were discovered in northeastern Italy, and Padua is considered its capital. In Italian, the name fango means dirt or mud.

Application of fango

Fango is used to perform specialized treatments. Thanks to the use of mud rich in minerals and its ability to conduct heat, the treatments have the following effects:

  1. gives a feeling of relief in the case of chronic pain,
  2. has a relaxing effect on the muscles,
  3. stimulates circulation in the circulatory system, especially at the site of fango application,
  4. stimulates the immune system,
  5. improves mood,
  6. cleanses the skin, removing harmful toxins and metabolic results.

Participation in the fango treatment is recommended primarily in the following situations:

  1. chronic diseases of the locomotor system,
  2. osteoporosis,
  3. arthritis,
  4. joint pain,
  5. overload swellings,
  6. post-traumatic conditions,
  7. peripheral circulation disorders,
  8. painful periods
  9. inflammation of the bladder,
  10. inflammation of the kidneys
  11. functional arterial disease,
  12. liver or gallbladder disorders,
  13. constipation
  14. the occurrence of psychosomatic and mental disorders.

Moreover, fang treatments are recommended for patients suffering from certain dermatological conditions. First of all, fango shows a positive effect in the case of:

  1. neurodermii,
  2. psoriasis
  3. disfiguring scars
  4. cellulite.

In addition to the fango itself, parafango is also used, i.e. a mixture created after combining fango with paraffin. The paraphango treatment is similar to that of the fango-based treatments and applies to the same indications. The addition of paraffin is to support the operation of the treatment, especially in the treatment of inflammatory-degenerative states of the musculoskeletal system.

The course of the procedure with the use of fango

Fango compresses are made by a properly prepared person. First, the mud is prepared to be suitable for application. For this purpose, the mud mass is heated to a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius. When it is ready, fango is spread over the surface of the foil and then applied to the selected part of the body. The fango layer should be even and thoroughly spread. The treatment usually takes about 30 minutes and ends with the removal of dried mass of fango. Despite the fears of many people who take part in this treatment for the first time, it is completely painless, and the compress itself does not cause any burns.

During the treatment, the heated fango slowly transfers heat to the tissues and organs in the area where it is distributed. This causes a growing feeling of warmth that begins to diminish over time.

In addition, during the treatment, the body covered with fango absorbs substances of volcanic origin contained in the mud. These include:

  1. bitumens,
  2. amino acids
  3. humic acids,
  4. mineral salts,
  5. microbiological ingredients.

It is also worth mentioning the most common reasons why it is recommended to opt out of the fango treatment. Belong to them:

  1. acute heart disease
  2. heart failure
  3. pregnancy,
  4. acute rheumatic inflammation,
  5. gastrointestinal ulcers,
  6. bleeding in the stomach or intestines
  7. hypoaesthesia,
  8. increased body temperature.

Fango is growing in popularity in our country. Participation in this treatment is offered not only by treatment centers, but also by cosmetic and physiotherapy centers. You can go for the fango treatment not only in the largest Polish cities, such as Warsaw, but also in holiday resorts, e.g. in Kołobrzeg or Koszalin.
