Coconut rum (coconut rum) is a marketing ploy of some producers who have relied on the “tropical” nature of their alcohol and want to attract consumers who miss their holidays in hot countries. Classic rum is made from molasses – sugarcane molasses, coconut variation refers to the type of flavored rums.
“Coconut Rum” is not a trademark or name protected by origin or quality. As already mentioned, this is rather an advertising move, and what lies behind it depends on each specific brand.
It is not always possible to find out the exact recipe or production technology, as this is often a trade secret, and anything can be hidden under the streamlined term “natural flavors”.
In general, from well-known manufacturers, most often such a drink is made on the basis of real rum, and the coconut taste is already achieved by different methods.

Coconut rum is drunk neat from high liquor glasses at room temperature or diluted with juices: pineapple, orange or apple. Interesting combinations are obtained when mixed with cola or tonic. Proportions are selected individually, in most cases ratios of 1:2 and 1:3 are used (for one part of rum, 2-3 parts of a soft drink). Coconut rum also goes well with coffee.
As an appetizer, desserts are well suited to coconut rum: sweet fruits, pastries and ice cream.
