Ski resorts for families

Are you planning an all-out vacation with your tribe? What luck ! But before you leave, here are some precious tips for choosing a ski resort suited to family life …

France, the largest ski area

France is an exception. It is considered to be the largest ski area in the world. Open from the beginning of October until the beginning of May, the ski resorts offer modern services. Several ski areas are linked together and many stations are specifically designed for families.

The French Ski School (ESF) offers ski sessions from 2 years old, in private lessons, or at 3 years old, in group lessons. The educational concept entitled “Piou Piou” allows the youngest to learn to ski: everything is tailor-made for them, with specialized instructors, in specific spaces, such as kindergartens. These activities allow children to gain independence, while parents go skiing on their own.

The criteria for choosing a ski resort with the family

So-called family ski resorts meet very specific criteria. Well thought out for families, they all have specificities. The important criteria: a practical geographical configuration, leisure facilities for children, a low altitude for the little ones, a choice of residences located at the foot of the slopes… everything is done so that families can enjoy their stay as well as possible. Another very important element, the presence of specific structures to welcome children: games, entertainment, ski lessons, adapted slopes.

To organize a winter sports holiday in “tribe” mode, the cost of the ski pass is a decisive factor. Count around 170 euros for an adult over 6 days, and around 40 euros per day for children. Another decisive cost is accommodation. Depending on whether you are in a residence or at the hotel, the prices range from 300 to 900 euros per week, all-inclusive, with ski passes and equipment for the whole family.

The “Famille Plus” Label

Created to make it easier for families to enjoy their vacation, this national tourist label, unique in its kind, is recognized by the Ministry of Tourism. It concerns 43 stations, all spread over the different massifs. These stations meet the expectations of families with young children. The label mainly rewards the quality of the resort facilities. These stations labeled “Famille Plus” are committed to offering families:

– a personalized welcome

– activities adapted for all ages

– “family” rates

– a wide choice of activities for young and old, to experience together or separately

– a medical service and qualified professionals
