False nails: all you need to know about applying false nails

In the field of beauty, that of the hands has gradually become more and more important and false nails have taken an important place. Whether you like sober or more colorful polishes, false nails sign a look and allow you to have perfect nails. But beware, false nails are not without danger.

False nails, what are they?

In the field of false nails, there are two main categories of products:

  • false nails made of resin or gel, called capsules, which are applied with a glue, so they are durable.
  • false nails like “stickers”, which replace a varnish. They are easy to install, are easily removed, but of course they are not durable. Strictly speaking, they are not false nails.

False nails, in their first definition, aim above all to cover and replace for a time natural nails in order to make them more beautiful. Especially if they are damaged or brittle. Or if you gnaw them and need to cover them while waiting for regrowth.

Women also use false nails because they find it more beautiful than natural nails.

False gel nails

Besides the resin nails conventionally used before, women and cosmetic companies have turned to what is known as UV gel. Considered to be less toxic, it is now used everywhere. As well in beauty salons or specialized in manicure, as for the installation of varnish at home. A UV lamp is needed to fix them.

Experts can even buy everything needed, such as capsules, builder gels, lamps, to create their own false nails, with any decor they want.

How to put your false nails?

For a first installation of false nails, it is not recommended to do it alone at home. This pose requires dexterity, specific tools and impeccable hygiene. Going to a nail technician is therefore essential if you want to try this particular manicure.

Applying false nails always begins with a very neat manicure that will allow the professional to smooth the nail, disinfect it and its entire contour and push back the cuticles. All this in order to adhere false nails and prevent infections.

The application of the gel is then carried out on the capsule, several layers are necessary.

The gel then requires drying under a specific UV lamp. The prosthetist finishes her work according to your tastes, especially if you have requested decorations.

False nails: how long do they last?

Depending on the quality of the pose but also your lifestyle, you can expect a duration that varies between 3 and 6 weeks, maximum.

Professionally finished false nails should be removed by a prosthetist as well. The glue used, the way the nails were attached, it all comes into play. This technique is called complete removal.

Removing false nails alone is very dangerous, the glue could indeed pull on the nail, the real one, at the risk of severely damaging it.

Does applying false nails damage the nails?

The installation of false nails is unfortunately not without risks. Health professionals are also regularly alarmed by the damage caused by the installation of false nails.

The quality of the production conditions is of course essential. If the disinfection of the tools is not done well, if the capsules used are of poor quality, an infection is possible. Hence the importance of contacting a recognized trade fair.

Nevertheless, even in good conditions, it happens that the products used, in particular glues and varnishes, are at the origin of allergies.

It can in particular be an eczema which develops within 48 hours on the hand then, by contact, on the face or the eyes, with itching to the key.

Unfortunately, allergies are difficult to predict upstream. But if you are already sensitive and prone to eczema, it is better to avoid false nails.

The application of semi-permanent varnish

Semi-permanent varnishes are a good alternative to false nails for manicured and clear nails for 2 to 3 weeks maximum.

Professionals also advise not to go beyond this period and to remove the varnish to prevent the nail from becoming soft or brittle.

These are gel polishes that dry only under UV lamps which allow the material to be fixed on the nail.

To remove the semi-permanent varnish, again, it is better to return to your institute for a perfect removal.

As with false nails, semi-permanent varnish requires a lot of care and must be applied properly.
