Factorial of a number

Factorial of a natural number n is written as n! and is considered as the product of all natural numbers from 1 to n (inclusive).

For n > 0:

n! = 1 ⋅ 2 ⋅ 3 ⋅ 4 … ⋅ n

For n = 0:

0! = 1

  • 3! = 1 ⋅ 2 ⋅ 3 = 6
  • four! = 4 ⋅ 1 ⋅ 2 ⋅ 3 = 4
  • 5! = 1 ⋅ 2 ⋅ 3 ⋅ 4 ⋅ 5 = 120

Recurrent factorial formula

  • 5! = 5 ⋅ (5 – 1)! = 5 ⋅ 4! = 5⋅24 = 120
  • 7! = 7⋅ (7 – 1)! = 7 ⋅ 6! = 5⋅720 = 5040

Stirling’s formula

Used to approximate factorial.
