Facial plastic surgery: how many people want to have it

For 67% of people, the concept of “beauty” is primarily associated with the personal qualities and character traits of a person. But despite this, 40% would gladly change something in their appearance if given the opportunity. These are the results of a global study conducted by Synovate.

The company’s specialists interviewed more than 7000 people from 10 countries of the world, including Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Korea, South Africa, Singapore and the United States. At the same time, the main task was not to find out the secrets of the respondents’ beauty, and not to find out which of the cosmetic brands are the most popular, but to find out how representatives of different cultures and ethnic groups assess their appearance. And to understand why some people are so eager to change their appearance.

Here’s the final picture:

  • Every fifth respondent would gladly agree to plastic surgery if the funds allowed him. However, at the same time, 30% of the respondents are not ready to change anything in themselves in such a radical way, even if their income would allow it.
  • Spaniards dream of a darker skin color, while Koreans make every possible effort to “turn pale,” and the overwhelming majority of Russians (89%) dream of a Hollywood smile.
  • In South Africa, men would be more willing to use a style consultant than women.
  • Canadians spend less time in front of a mirror than anyone else in the world. But at the same time, residents of other countries are more likely to experience a sense of inferiority when watching commercials for cosmetics and perfumes.
  • In the United States, only 7% of respondents consider themselves ugly.
  • In Korea, you are unlikely to get anything “for beautiful eyes.” At least 96% of the surveyed residents of this country think so.
