If you are familiar with the problem of edema, and in the morning the eyelids seem so heavy that it is just right to remember Gogol’s Viy – you are here. In just a few minutes, you will know how to take control of the situation with an anti-edema facial massage.
What gives facial massage from edema
Facial massage for edema is a lightweight and shortened version of lymphatic drainage massage, a manual technique aimed at removing excess fluid from the tissues. It is not too difficult to master it, and it will certainly be useful to anyone whose face tends to “stock up” with liquid.
This is primarily manifested in the area around the eyes, which, due to physiological characteristics, retains water. Subsequently, this can turn into persistent bags under the eyes, and if you look even further, the predisposition to edema will certainly become one of the causes of age-related changes in the face. Details below.
Indications and contraindications
So, edema, or rather a slow flow of lymph and blood, is especially noticeable with age and provokes:
bags under the eyes;
pastosity;
double chin;
nasolabial folds;
flew;
change in the oval of the face;
ptosis;
dull complexion.
If there are even hints of the above troubles, it is simply necessary to master the simplest basic technique of lymphatic drainage massage at home. Moreover, it is much easier to do this than it might seem at first glance.
Swelling can cause many problems, including loss of facial definition.
However, before proceeding to study the issue, we will specify the circumstances under which lymphatic drainage massage is not recommended:
inflammatory elements on the face;
colds (runny nose, cough, sore throat);
general malaise;
critical days;
herpes;
viral diseases.
Types of massage to relieve puffiness of the face
Today, there is a huge variety of techniques that help to quickly reduce puffiness, and eventually achieve a pronounced stable result. We are talking about manual lymphatic drainage techniques of varying degrees of complexity and effectiveness.
Lymphatic drainage massage – classical massage, restoring the flow of lymph. Gives excellent results, especially when performed by a professional.
Japanese – he is the famous Asahi massage, which is also called baby face (“baby face”), it removes fluid from the tissues so effectively.
Massage in circular motions – one of the ways to activate the lymph flow. The passage through the lymphatic channels is carried out literally in “circular movements”.
Hiromassage – This is one of the massage techniques aimed at strengthening the skin and restoring lymph flow.
Massage with spoons – a popular massage to relieve puffiness from the eye area (performed with cold spoons) or from the entire face (alternately warm and chilled spoons are used). The technique is simple and works well with little swelling. You can find the video in the public domain.
Preparing the face for massage
Some suggest steaming your face before a massage, doing a scrub or peeling. However, these activities are not that redundant, but not at all mandatory, they will not affect the result. There are much more important points.
Both face and hands must be spotlessly clean.. Wash your face before the massage with a foam or gel. After the massage, you must also wash. You can choose a cleanser using the test.
Lymphatic drainage massage should be done in open clothes, at least the neck and décolleté should be free.
Massage can be done using oil, for example, hydrophilic, which is easily washed off, cleansing the skin after the massage.
The massage is performed with the fingertips different techniques: tapping, rolling, sliding – choose to taste. The main thing is that the movements are as much as possible slow.
Massage at the mirror, with a straight back and neck – no need to pull or wring it.
If you have during a massage watery eyes, you wanted to blow your nose, you felt movement along the back wall of the larynx – this is a good sign, signaling that the matter has gone.
How to do facial massage against edema: technique
If you intend to seriously get rid of edema with the help of self-massage, you need to learn the location of the 3 main paired points – the lymph nodes, to which we will direct the liquid and thereby unload the tissues.
Point 1. It is located in the supraclavicular cavities.
Point 2. It is located at an angle of the lower jaw to the neck. She has been familiar to each of us since childhood – the doctor always probes her during the examination to check if the lymph nodes are enlarged.
Point 3. It is located near the ear and is palpable as a small depression.
Actually, the essence of drainage massage is to direct the fluid to these points. Let’s try.
Lymphatic channels run along the neck and lead to the supraclavicular cavities.
Prepare
To begin with, let’s open the lymphatic channels by making a stroking movement from the ear several times, along the sides of the neck to point number 2 (collarbone).
Comb your head with your fingertips, starting from the hairline, ending with the beginning of the neck. Stroke the back of the neck with your palms, from top to bottom. These techniques will help “open” the eyes and improve blood circulation.
Rise up on your toes and drop down with force – This helps to drain the fluid. Repeat several times.
Put your palms on your cheeks and vibrate, repeat the same in the area of the forehead and temples.
Massage for edema
So, we proceed to the “pumping” of the liquid.
The first route starts from middle of the chin: we move along the lower edge of the face to the point under the jaw. Stop. Then we move down the neck to the collarbones (point number 1). delayed.
We rise higher, to the points located on both sides of the nostrils, and again we move to our main “receiving points”: through the cheek to the jaw (were delayed), then down to the collarbones (point number 1).
Climb even higher to inner corners of the eyes, this time we keep the path to the point near the ear (point number 3). We reached, lingered and rolled further along the beaten track to points 2 and 1.
Let’s start processing the upper part of the face. We put our fingers between the eyebrows and slowly head to the sides along the superciliary arch, then down through the temples to point number 3 and further to points 2 and 1.
Last route: from the center of the forehead, to the sides, through the temples, to points 3, 2, 1.
The massage is over. Once again, we focus on the fact that the movements should be slow and conscious, if you run your fingers over your face, there will be no sense.
