Facial cleansers

Skin cleansing is perhaps the most important procedure. We start our day with it and end it with it. Cleansing is necessary to rid the skin of cosmetics, impurities, excess sebum. We will tell you how not to get confused when choosing the perfect tool. A review of the best products, according to the editors of Healthy-Food, on a note.

Stages of skin cleansing

We will not be mistaken if we say that the ritual of cleansing the skin of the face is the most time-consuming, because several means are involved in it at once. And even if we are not talking about the currently fashionable Asian-style compound cleansing using hydrophilic oil, there will still be at least three stages.

Cleanse your face in stages. This approach will help to remove decorative cosmetics, dust particles and other contaminants most thoroughly.

Makeup Remover

Micellar water, two-phase make-up remover, hydrophilic oil, milk – the task of all these products is to remove makeup. These products dissolve makeup, which means they are gentle on your skin.

  1. Apply the product to a cotton pad.

  2. Gently remove make-up and impurities from the skin.

In recent years, cleansing without water has become fashionable – tap water is allegedly too harsh and annoying. However, cosmetologists recommend washing off even the most delicate products like micellar solutions with water. In this case, water may not necessarily be tap water, acceptable options are mineral or simply bottled.

Answer our quiz to find out which makeup remover is right for you.

Toning

You will be surprised, but cleansing is one of the most traumatic procedures for the face. Surface active substances (surfactants), which are included in the formulas of almost all cleansing agents, violate the hydrolipid mantle. Salvation – tonics that help:

  • stabilize the pH;

  • eliminate dryness and tightness;

  • remove the rest of the make-up remover.

Choose cleansers and make-up removers according to your skin type

How to choose a cleanser for your skin type

We talk about the selection criteria and possible risks if they are neglected.

Oily skin

It releases a large amount of sebum, the excess of which must be removed in a timely manner. This type of skin is usually not afraid of surfactants, but can respond with dehydration if the cleansing is too aggressive. Oily skin often suffers from clogged pores and inflammation, which means that exfoliants (read about deep cleansing below) are her best friends.

The general rules for cleansing are as follows:

  • do not be afraid of gel textures;

  • be careful with cream;

  • do not forget about make-up remover with micellar water;

  • when choosing a product, look for salicylic acid (accelerates cell renewal) and zinc (normalizes sebum secretion) in the composition.

The choice of oily skin – gels and foams

Dry skin

Cleansers for dry skin should not only be atraumatic, but also contain moisturizing ingredients: glycerin, panthenol, plant extracts. Dry skin requires the most delicate approach.

Cleansing rules include:

  • make-up remover маслом или молочком;

  • washing using products with creamy textures or emulsions, they do not contain surfactants, so they act as gently as possible;

  • use of micellar water: take the one marked “for dry skin”, but after use, be sure to wash it off or wipe your face with a tonic.

Combination skin

It is very easy to dry it out: the T-zone produces sebum in an accelerated mode and loses moisture, and there are not enough lipids on the periphery of the face to retain moisture.

The following algorithm will help to normalize the situation in all areas:

  • remove makeup with micellar water;

  • wash with foam;

  • for enlarged, clogged pores on the nose, forehead and chin, remove make-up with a special cleanser as a separate wash step.

Sensitive skin

Even at the lowest concentrations, surfactants can cause irritation here. Therefore your task is:

  • choose products without surfactants, marked “for sensitive skin” (hydrophilic oils, cleansing creams);

  • avoid cosmetics containing alcohol and pay attention to products with glycerin, panthenol, allantoin – they relieve irritation and help maintain an optimal level of moisture.

Types of cleansers

Until quite recently, even cosmetologists did not hear about products such as micellar water and hydrophilic oil, and it was customary to wash your face with ordinary soap. Now the situation has changed, and the category of cleansers has grown dramatically. We introduce you to its most popular representatives.

cleansing oil

It was invented in Southeast Asia about ten years ago, but in the West an alternative to Korean and Japanese oils appeared not so long ago. These products perfectly dissolve impurities and cosmetics, and hydrophilic oil and balm, upon contact with water, turn into an emulsion that is easy to wash off.

  1. Apply the oil to dry skin.

  2. Distribute with massage movements.

  3. Wash off with gel or foam.

Micellar water

This solution was developed in France for owners of sensitive skin. Micellar water cleanses gently but effectively. The formula contains micelles – special components that quickly bind impurities. It is not required to make additional efforts, rubbing the skin.

This format is extremely convenient for traveling – you can fix the arrow, and completely remove makeup, and wash before boarding the plane. In home use, micellar water is also convenient. True, not all products in this category are able to dissolve waterproof makeup, but light daytime makeup in a few seconds.

Micellar water removes make-up quickly and effectively

Bi-Phase Cleanser

A distant relative of micellar water was super popular ten years ago, but now it has its own audience. Easily and quickly removes eye make-up. Modern technologies have made it possible to improve the formula of biphasic formulas: now they do not leave an oily film.,

Milk

Ideal for dry and sensitive skin:

  • does not contain soap;

  • dissolves pollution due to the oils included in the composition;

  • it can be used for washing or make-up removal; the only thing that is powerless before is bright stage make-up.

Shower gel

Perhaps the most popular format of alkaline products. Foaming base allows you to effectively remove fat-soluble and water-soluble contaminants. It is recommended to pre-foam the gel in the palms of your hands and apply the resulting foam to your face.

Gels and foaming agents are well tolerated by oily and combination skin, but dry and dehydrated gel may not be suitable and will only aggravate the situation.

Foam for washing

Category for those who love high-quality, but delicate washing. This product is definitely worth paying attention to the owners of oily and combination skin, including dehydrated.

Mousses are effective cleansing agents that guarantee delicate cleansing and a gentle effect on the hydrolipidic layer. The mechanism built into the dispenser foams the product already in the package.

Deep cleansing: rules and suitable products

First of all, deep cleansing is necessary for oily skin, prone to clogged pores and the appearance of non-inflammatory and inflammatory rashes. Although in fact exfoliation is important for any skin type: dead epidermal cells interfere with the proper regulation of sebum and prevent the active ingredients from creams and serums from penetrating into the deeper layers of the skin.

What and how often to exfoliate the skin

To eliminate dead skin cells, peels or scrubs can be used. The approach is different, the goal is the same – to accelerate cell renewal and remove dead particles of the epidermis.

  • Chemical exfoliation

    involves the use of acids and enzymes. They dissolve dead skin cells, but increase its photosensitivity.

  • Mechanical exfoliants

    They contain artificial or natural abrasive particles and act by means of friction. This means that they are more traumatic and are not recommended in the presence of inflammation.

As for the frequency of use, be guided by your own feelings. Dry skin usually suffices to apply a gentle gommage every couple of weeks. Owners of a fatty type can afford less delicate products 1-2 times a week.

Three deep cleansing products

Gel Scrub 3 in 1 “Clear Skin”, Garnier Can be used daily as a cleanser, exfoliator or as a mask. Kaolin in the formula tightens pores and has a matting effect, zinc controls the production of sebum, pumice grains remove dead particles of the epidermis.

Serum for correction of acne Blemish + Age Defense, SkinCeuticals – a powerful combination of acids (dioic, glycolic, salicylic) regulates the secretion of the sebaceous glands, prevents the formation of inflammation and pigmentation.
