Face cream with SPF 20

Which sunscreen to choose – with SPF 50 or 20? It all depends on the phototype. “Fifty” is the choice of white-skinned fair-haired people, and SPF 20 is for those who tan without problems. We understand the intricacies of the issue.

Features of face cream with SPF 20

Nobody needs to prove that the sun is both a friend and an enemy at the same time. On the one hand, without it, the synthesis of vital vitamin D is impossible, and on the other hand, the skin from an excess of ultraviolet radiation prematurely ages and is exposed to more serious potential dangers. If you want a tan that pleases with a beautiful shade and lasts for a long time without causing harm, defend yourself. That’s what SPF products are for.

As you know, the protection factor index for such products is different – from 10 to 50+. And if everything is more or less clear with SPF 50 – this is the most reliable shield, then why do you need a cream with SPF 20? To refresh your knowledge, we advise you to re-read the material that we recently published – it contains answers to the most pressing questions related to sun protection.

To be sure that SPF 20 cream is enough for you, it will not be superfluous to know what phototype you are. There are 6 in total, but the inhabitants of our northern latitudes mainly belong to the first four. Of these, only representatives of phototype IV can afford a remedy with a low protection factor. Here is a short description of this type:

  • dark hair;

  • Brown eyes;

  • olive or dark skin tone;

  • the ability to sunbathe without burns.

The sun protection factor (SPF) is a factor that shows how much more intense the radiation should be, at which the reddening of the skin “under cover” of a sunscreen will appear, in comparison with the radiation that affects the skin without sunscreen.

In other words, a product with SPF 20 blocks up to 93-95% of UVB rays.

Every sunscreen contains sun filters. They are of two types:

  1. physical;

  2. chemical.

To make sun exposure the most comfortable and safe, caring substances are usually added to them:

  • moisturizing – aloe juice, ceramides;

  • water-retaining – hyaluronic acid;

  • vitamins and antioxidants – vitamin E, squalane, plant extracts;

  • valuable oils — karite, jojoba.

When choosing a sunscreen, we advise you to be very careful. If you know that the skin quickly turns red in the sun and burns, a cream with SPF 20 is not for you. Choose a sunscreen with a higher SPF. For the rest, we would like to remind you:

  • the cream must be applied to all exposed areas of the body;

  • every time after bathing it is important to renew the protection;

  • it is recommended to apply the product 20-30 minutes before going outside.
