Eziclen is a laxative drug, the main ingredients of which are potassium sulfate, magnesium sulfate heptahydrate and sodium sulfate anhydrous. The medicine is available as a concentrate for oral solution. What is the exact dosage of the preparation and are there any side effects after taking it?
Eziclen – application
Eziclen is an osmotic laxative drug. It is used in adults who need a thorough colon cleansing before surgery, colonoscopy or other medical examination. Eziclen is not recommended for severe constipation.
The mechanism of the drug is mainly based on a limited and saturable active transport of sulphates, saturation causes sulphates to remain in the intestinal lumen. The osmotic action of unsabsorbed sulphates also causes water to be retained in the intestine, which leads to its cleansing. Unabsorbed ions in combination with plenty of water result in watery diarrhea, which is normal. The dosage of the drug depends on the doctor’s recommendations. Eziclen is a drug for oral use.
The preparation should be dissolved in an appropriate amount of water, mixed and drunk, after taking the correct dose of the drug, additional water should be washed down in order to ensure proper tolerance.
Eziclen – contraindications
As with other drugs, there are contraindications to the use of Eziclen.

Before using the product, the doctor should carry out check-ups, including the level of sodium and potassium in the blood. special precautions should be taken in patients with gastro-esophageal regurgitation, disturbance of the pharyngeal reflex. Eziclen may cause a transient mild or moderate increase in uric acid levels. In the case of patients with electrolyte disturbances, it is necessary to ensure proper hydration of the body during the operation of the preparation as well as after its use.
The doctor should know about all medications taken so that Eziclen does not interact with other medications. Eziclen is not recommended for use during pregnancy and in breastfeeding women. Side effects may occur, including general discomfort around the anus and rectum, flatulence, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, increased levels of aspartate aminotransferase in the blood.
