Extreme diet and health. 5 side effects of the miracle diet

The holiday period is a time when many people want to lose weight quickly and effectively. In a panic, they resort to various miracle diets that promise to lose weight in a very short time. A drastic reduction in the number of calories consumed, diets based on one type of product … each of us has dealt with such drastic ways of losing weight, or knows a person who has taken it.

In addition to the obvious yo-yo effect, which is guaranteed with “quick diets”, they also have a devastating effect on the body. How are miracle diets dangerous for us? Here are the five main side effects!

  1. Digestion problem. Many diets forbid eating fruit or grains. According to them, they are a source of carbohydrates and sugar, which are the worst enemy of a slim figure. While it is of course true that their excess causes an increase in body fat, it is absolutely stupid to give them up completely. A healthy, balanced slimming diet, and more, must include cereal products and fruits. They have a lot of vitamins and fiber, which is very helpful in the weight loss process. Eating yogurt and kefir during a diet is a huge mistake, because they do not provide nutrients, and at the same time cause numerous stomach problems: constipation, abdominal pain, nausea.
  2. Slowing down the metabolism. A drastic reduction in the number of calories causes the body to store them and slows down the metabolism. A regular and varied diet is the basis for losing weight. The body exposed to “starvation” and deprived of some nutrients quickly begins to burn muscles and store fat, which makes us lose weight much slower and unhealthily!
  3. A bad mood. When you are on a demanding diet, you quickly become discouraged and depressed. Feeling guilty when you give in to temptation, constantly calculating how much you ate during the day, eternal hunger – all this makes you prone to mood swings. It is definitely better to choose healthy slimming, during which you eat healthier and more sensibly, but you do not have to give up everything.
  4. Weakness and malnutrition. If the diet requires the elimination of fats and carbohydrates, know that this is a vicious circle that can lead to malnutrition. Although you may lose weight in the beginning, over time you will start to suffer from anemia, lack of menstruation or skin problems. These are the effects of malnutrition. The second issue is weakness, causing lack of energy, exhaustion, problems with concentration, stress and irritability.
  5. Obsession with food. Constantly thinking about diet and food takes away the pleasure of meals. Such an obsession is a signal that you may be suffering from an eating disorder. Counting every calorie, limiting everything… this is not a healthy way to a slim figure. Such a restrictive diet is also a shock to the body, which slows down the metabolism, and you are still hungry.
