External evaluation is the evaluation of us, our qualities and our deeds by the people around us. Interest and attentiveness to how others perceive and evaluate us is a wonderful quality, an indispensable part of good breeding. On the other hand, evaluative dependence, a person’s dependence on positive or negative assessments of others, is a big nuisance.
External evaluation and self-assessment
External assessment and self-assessment are interrelated. Long-term negative external assessment (criticism, condemnation) usually lowers self-esteem, positive external assessment — increases. On the other hand, a person with high self-esteem is usually more likely to be rated higher by others.

Labile adolescents are very sensitive to all kinds of signs of attention, gratitude, praise and encouragement — all this gives them sincere joy, but does not at all induce arrogance or conceit. Reprimands, condemnations, reprimands, lectures are deeply experienced and are capable of invading hopeless despondency.
