How to export a document to a PDF file
Exporting a document to the Adobe Acrobat format, commonly known as PDF, can be useful when you want to send a document to a user who does not have Microsoft Word. A PDF file allows the recipient to view, but not edit, the contents of your document.
- Click the Fileto navigate to Backstage view.
- Press Exportthen select Create PDF/XPS document.
- In the dialog box that appears Publish as PDF or XPS select the location where you would like to export the document, enter a name for the file, and then click Publish.
By default, Word exports all available pages to the document. If you want to export only the current page, in the dialog box Publish as PDF or XPS click Parameters. In the dialog box that appears, select Current pagethen press OK.

Exporting a Document to Other File Types
Optionally, send the user a document from older versions of Microsoft Word, such as .doc (Word 97-2003) or format file .rtf, it is possible to export the document to other formats.
- Click the Fileto navigate to Backstage view.
- Press ExportThen Change file type.
- Select the desired file type, then click Save as.
- In the dialog box that appears Saving a document select the location where you want to export the document, enter a file name, then click Save.
