Experts talked about the benefits of integrative medicine

Today such medical methods as osteopathy, homeopathy, aromatherapy and others are gaining popularity. Recently, an Organic Woman Club meeting took place in Moscow, where they discussed in which situations it is worth turning to these practices, and in which it is better to refrain from them.

In the modern world, people are increasingly resorting to a wide variety of medical methods. These include osteopathy, aromatherapy, kinesiology, dietetics and many others. Thanks to the Internet, it has become very easy to find out about them, you just need to go to a search engine. Dozens of articles with detailed information will appear immediately. Vials of essential oils are lined up in stores, and finding an osteopath sometimes seems easier than ordering food at home.

The availability of these medical methods allows everyone to choose exactly the one that he considers most appropriate. This has led to the growing popularity of integrative medicine.

“50% of French people use homeopathic medicines on a daily basis, more than 30% of the US adult population regularly turn to one or another type of complementary medicine, in Germany 90% of patients were taking ‘natural’ medicines,” said Irina Nikulina, CEO of BUARON. “All this makes therapy more personalized and safer. But provided that the patient has received sufficient information from the doctor and takes into account all the factors related to his health. “

A number of practices have proven benefits, according to data published by the US Department of Health’s National Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine and Pubmed. Thus, yoga has a beneficial effect on insomnia and increases the production of melatonin.

When it comes to aromatherapy, some scents help lower blood pressure. For example, the essential oils of bergamot and clary sage have this effect.

However, you should be careful with some drugs and practices. For example, lemongrass and yellow root supplements can slow your metabolism. Expectant mothers should bypass dietary supplements, which include St. John’s wort. It reduces the effectiveness of contraceptive medicines, carries the risk of bleeding and even termination of pregnancy.

Homeopathic medicines also have their own benefits. It has been proven that the use of homeopathic medicines for upper respiratory tract infections halves the need for antibiotics.

“The appeal of patients and specialists to homeopathy is natural – this method has always fully embodied a personalized approach to the patient. While they began to return it to mass medical practice quite recently, ”said family doctor Tatyana Kolotova.

She also named several of the most common drugs. So, among them ARNIKA MONTANA 9 (used for bruises and sprains), GELSEMIUM C30 (helps with anxiety) and APIS MELLIFIKA C30 (used for insect bites, urticaria and first degree burns).

In addition, osteopathy has many advantages. So, thanks to it, the body’s defenses are activated and the body’s ability to cope with stress increases. In our time, when a person is almost daily faced with anxiety, this is extremely necessary.

But it is worth remembering that you should constantly monitor your health, and not just at the moment when you feel unwell.

“Completing the prescribed course of treatment does not always mean recovery,” said Vladimir Kotenev, an integral health specialist and founder of Wellcure & float studio centers. – In a situation of constant background stress – psychoemotional, muscle – it is impossible to achieve a state of complete health.

That is why, according to the expert, modern medicine should today develop in three directions: movement towards forecasting, disease prevention and a healthy lifestyle.
