People are increasingly complaining about anxiety, stress and nervous breakdowns. Stanislav Kholodkov, founder of the ElephaHealth rapid recovery studio network, tells how stress affects overall well-being and how to deal with it.
Exhaustion of the nervous system can develop regardless of what we do in everyday life. The COVID-19 pandemic, political unrest, high pace of life, anxiety about your business and loved ones — all these features of the modern world cause stress and harm health.
stress and hormones
Stress can be psychological and physical. For example, a strong emotional experience or excitement is psychological stress, and the high speed of life or lack of rest is physical stress.
Solving difficult life situations, long-haul flights, a large information flow, urgent tasks at work — all these are stress factors that affect the nervous system. For any stress factor in the cerebral cortex, a large focus of excitation arises, capturing a large number of neurons — brain cells, producing a large amount of hormones. The most famous are dopamine, norepinephrine, adrenaline.
Normally, these hormones are present in small amounts. Their level increases greatly with regular stress, which threatens to increase blood pressure, the appearance of headaches and tremors in the body.
Together with these hormones, steroid hormones produced by the adrenal cortex are also released: the most active of them is cortisol. In small doses, they increase immunity, in large doses they destroy it.
The stronger the stress, the stronger the physiological and biochemical shifts
Excessive release of these hormones causes changes in the brain and organs, and repeated stress leads to constant tension. As a result, the activity of the thyroid gland decreases, the level of insulin rises, blood pressure rises, the entire endocrine system is restructured, and immunity drops sharply.
With constant stress, steroid hormones are depleted, which leads to emotional burnout, apathy, depression, panic attacks and psychological deviations.
Coping with stress
You can save physical and psychological health in simple ways that are available to everyone.
Breathing exercises
Proper breathing techniques stabilize the emotional state of a person, relieve tension from the cervical spine, and enrich the brain with oxygen.
Example: artificial yawn. Open your mouth wide to feel the tension in the lower jaw, inhale, hold your breath for 2 seconds — exhale. We repeat 5-6 cycles.
Cold and hot shower
A procedure known to many, in which you alternately need to pour hot and water. This technique allows you to strengthen the immune system, improve the state of the nervous and cardiovascular systems.
Scheme of correct reception: warm up under warm water, lower the water temperature to room temperature, stand for up to 20 seconds, turn on hot water, warm up properly, turn on cold water, stand for up to 10 seconds. Repeat the cycle 3-4 times. After a month, increase the time under cold water to 20 seconds.
Active physical recreation
Walk, play sports after work. Rest, accompanied by moderate muscle work, provides more effective recovery. The effect of outdoor activities was established by the Russian scientist Ivan Sechenov back in 1903. The scientist explained his discovery as follows: the nerve centers of one part of the body that worked earlier and came into a state of inhibition are «charged» when the symmetrical centers of another part of the body are excited.
ElephaHealth method
Stanislav Kholodkov:
“Our ElephaHealth method is unique in that it quickly relieves both physiological and psychological stress at the same time. Without the use of any drugs, we reduce the excitation in the cerebral cortex and direct the body to recovery.
At sessions in our studios, we combine the author’s massage method with an audio complex. A specially designed program based on quantum technologies makes it possible to restore the central and peripheral nervous system, which allows you to quickly remove spasms and clamps from the muscles (relieve physical stress), reduce psycho-emotional stress, fear, anxiety, overwork (relieve psychological stress).
Any function of our body from body movement to emotional reactions is an electrical impulse of the nervous system with the production of certain hormones. Take care of your nervous system — after all, this is the main system for regulating all body systems and our general balance.
For all readers of the magazine, we provide free diagnostics of stress levels using HRV (heart rate variability) diagnostics when subscribing to our Instagram ”(an extremist organization banned in Russia).
