The “Wealth of the World” exercise is one of the Distance exercises, a system of step-by-step personality development. The task of the exercise is to develop your five senses as much as possible, to learn to see beauty at any time and in any situation, to enjoy life to the fullest.
Than useful
The five senses allow us to know the world around us, enjoy the beauty of this world, see the beauty and respond with love to it. Another benefit is that happy moments do not pass by my attention.
OZR: I can switch to admiring beauty at any time and feel the joy of this process. Embedding period 1 month.
How will I work
At least 5 times a week (2 days (Mon. Wed.) in the morning, 3 days (Tue. Fri, Sat.) in the evening), I choose 10 minutes in which I will live in the mode of felt pleasure. In one ten-minute session I will include at least 3 senses, maximum 5 senses (depending on the cases).
Vision — eyes
Enjoy the beautiful scenery outside the window. If the landscapes are tired outside the window, I watch beautiful pictures, short videos with nature and the Internet, while walking I carefully examine birds, beautiful people, snowflakes when they fall, I look at the clouds during the day, their bizarre shapes, at night the stars, the moon.
Hearing — ears
I carefully listen to the beautiful sounds around me: birds singing, music, harmonious works of different directions, how a pleasant interlocutor talks to me, how the clock hand knocks, the noise of trees, the sound of the wind, the crunch of snow, the murmur of water.
Sense of smell — nose
I emotionally inhale the smell of fresh air on a walk (if I find it in Moscow))), the smell of delicious food, the smell of flowers (in a tent with flowers), the smell of relatives. I focus on the pleasure that I get from this process.
Touch — skin
I pick up soft objects, materials (soft toys), feel them, focus on this, stroke the dog and enjoy its soft fur, stroke the hands of loved ones, convey my care and tenderness with my hands and how I love them, run my hands into the hair of my beloved a person, I feel pleasure from it, I pass warm water through my fingers, I enjoy this feeling.
Taste is language
Slowly…, I eat or drink something tasty (fruits, juices, etc.), attention is focused on the taste, I feel it with all the receptors of my mouth, mentally I think how delicious it is!
Important: This exercise should work on your values, not on immersion in the life of the body, enjoying fresh beer and the opportunity to pee later. Catch those moments of beauty that work for your development. The blue sky of the early morning, the freshness of the wind during a morning run, the feeling of the beauty of your run … Seek and create the beauty of your gestures and your clothes, but do not turn into a shopaholic: the exercise is not about that. Listen and look for the beauty of your speech, correct the intonation and sound of your laughter, train yourself to admire the people you admire.
As a result of the exercise, it is good to write three small essays that describe different episodes of beauty.
