Exercise… to get better rest

Beach chair or beach volleyball – fortunately, the rest by the water is not limited to this. Our experts offer five simple ways to help you truly relax and bring harmony to body and soul.

Already behind the flight and transfer, the hustle and bustle of the road … It’s time to relax! But it is not always easy for us to relieve ourselves of work stress, finally disconnect from everyday problems and tune in to a beneficial summer rhythm. Yoga and Pilates can help with this. No, it’s not about spending your holidays in the gym. Exercises suggested by Iyengar yoga teacher Maria Schiffers and fitness trainer Sobir Djumaev can be performed right on the beach. They are simple and effective, and at the same time our movements and postures will not shock the views of others. “It is best to study before eight in the morning or after seven in the evening, when the heat subsides and the sun is not too bright,” advises Maria Schiffers. “You can sit on a mat or right on the sand, preferably near the water, where the sand is dense.” A set of five exercises will take only 10 minutes. However, you can choose two or three of them – naturally, the most pleasant ones.

This asana opens the chest, stretches the spine, and also “gives a feeling of inner freedom and space, helps to realize the present moment, to feel here and now,” explains Maria Schiffers. Execution: stand facing the sea, feet together, palms clasped in front of the chest. Close your eyes, relax your facial muscles and focus on your breathing. Watch your thoughts for a while: let them just be – appear and disappear like clouds on the horizon. Take a deep breath through your nose and smell the sea. Let go of your tiredness as you exhale. Open your eyes, inhale and raise straight arms above your head without raising your shoulders. Continue to stretch your arms up for 20-30 seconds, relaxing your face and “lengthening” your neck. Feel the sand in your feet. Feel your breath. Exhale as you lower your arms along your body.
