My word is flint. I am aware that if I have made a commitment, it is a matter of honor for me to fulfill it.
Why: Unfortunately, the time has passed when the merchant’s word was a guarantor for a commodity credit. How many people in your environment now, my friend, whom can you rely on? Who keeps the word?
The word without responsibility has become an empty phrase.
This exercise returns the binding of the word to the consequences of its violation. A causal relationship is formed: if you break your word, you get negative consequences.
A positive side effect: people around you get used to your attitude to the word, they begin to respect both your word and their own, at least in relation to you.
How to perform
Each time you form a «punishment» to yourself for your broken word.
Advanced level: voicing in public.
Important: I mean completely household level! This is where it all starts.
- He said that you would be at home at 19:00, but came at 19:03.
- He promised the child to go to the zoo on the weekend, and did not find the time.
- The wife asked me to go to the store, agreed, and — forgot.
What are the punishments
- Sports. The simplest is push-ups, useful to everyone. 50 push-ups, 100 push-ups, then … — and you will become much more attentive to your words.
- Money: you can give to someone who caught you breaking your word to encourage mindfulness. There are other options, for example, to support with money one of the smart friends who obviously needs support. Or with good money to support the most high-quality project with the most intelligent friends.
- Unpleasant labor duties at home.
- For advanced «funny forfeits»: crow at the bus stop.

Levels:
Plasticine — I single out the obligations for which I set the price of the word. It’s about very important things. The price of the word is low. I am the only one who knows about the exercise.
Stone — I make commitments. The price of the word is average. The people around you know.
Steel — everyone knows that everything I promise has a high word price by default.
From my experience:
How I taught myself not to be late. I took it from one of I. Mann’s seminars.
If I’m late for a business lunch, I pay for all those present. Expensive and efficient.
Once we trained responsibility with my colleague, scored monetary “fines” in a week. Since the source did not indicate where to pay, they decided to kill two birds with one stone. With fines, we bought cleaning equipment (gloves, bags, brooms) and cleaned the Ob River embankment in Novosibirsk from debris for 2 hours.
Works great as a cure for procrastination! Available without a prescription.
