Excessive hair in men and women – why does it appear?

It may be congenital developmental disorders and may affect the entire body or a limited part of the skin.

Acquired excessive systemic hair may appear as a result of the systemic use of certain drugs (from very different therapeutic groups) and as a signal of tumors of internal organs. Limited hirsutism may be a consequence of repeated injuries or inflammations, as well as porphyria, anorexia, and hormonal disorders.

The appearance of facial hair on the upper lip, and sometimes also the chin in women, requires a general examination of the patient, especially in terms of hormones. However, this may be due to a certain inborn predisposition (more common in brunettes with a swarthy complexion).
