The number of COVID-19 cases has increased sharply in recent days. On January 21, the Ministry of Health informed about 36 thousand. 665 new cases of coronavirus. With even higher infection bars ahead of us and the increasing dominance of the Omikron variant, the government has made some changes to the pandemic management strategy.
One of them will be to accelerate research in the case of infected elderly people, the group most at risk of severe illness and death from the coronavirus.

The prime minister added that it will also be possible to check at home, because it is difficult for the elderly and sick to leave the house. – For many older people it is very important that the doctor uses a stethoscope to check whether something is already wrong in the lungs – explained the Prime Minister.
– Today it was possible, but through additional mechanisms we encourage all patients to do so, and we are introducing procedures that will enable this contact to be made within 48 hours – added Morawiecki.
Doctor: The government’s idea is nonsense and a marketing ploy
How does such an announcement look in the doctor’s opinion? We asked Jacek Gleba, a family doctor, pediatrician and internist to comment.
– In my opinion, this is nonsense – says the doctor shortly. – Patients with a positive result are very different. There are symptomatic patients who require urgent treatment, there are moderately symptomatic patients who need treatment within 24 hours, and there are patients who should stay at home and not go anywhere – explains Gleb.
The idea that the examination could take place at home made Jacek Gleba amused. – I wonder how the prime minister will handle it with doctors – he explains.

As Gleb points out, there are too few doctors in Poland, which is especially visible during home visits. – A doctor in the clinic can handle a maximum of six patients per hour. And during a home visit at that time, he will serve one. So it takes six times as many doctors to do it – she emphasizes.
