Everett Shostrom is an American humanistic psychologist and student of Abraham Maslow.

He developed his own vision of what a Manipulator is, as well as what is the focus and lifestyle of an Actualizer — a person living in the direction of self-actualization. See ⇒

In Russia, he is known primarily as the author of the book Manipulator. An Inner Journey from Manipulation to Actualization» (in Russian translation, the book received a free name — «Anti-Carnegie: Manipulator»).

He is the author of the POI test — Personal Orientation Questionnaire, developed by Shostrom in the 60s. Domestic modification of this test, which has become classic, is the CAT technique, which has several options. See ⇒
