The film «Fanfan Tulip»

The commander of the detachment during the attack of the robbers is a coward and a toady, an obvious Parasite. Fanfan-tulip in this situation really cares not only about himself, but also about others — the Creator. On the other hand, according to his general life philosophy and strategy, Fanfan is a typical Consumer, and in relations with village girls, he is a Parasite.

The most important moment of the ethics of the synton approach is the idea of ethicotypes (the typology was proposed by Prof. N.I. Kozlov), ways of life that are different in their ethics.

The basis of this typology is created by two axes: about whom a person cares and at whose expense. The intersection of these axes creates four semantic fields: caring only for yourself at your own expense, caring only for yourself at someone else’s expense, caring for yourself and others at your own expense, caring for yourself and others at someone else’s expense. The most accurate names for these semantic fields are Consumer, Parasite, Creator and Romantic.

The consumer lives by taking care of himself, but he takes care of himself honestly, at his own expense, without infringing on the rights of others. The parasite cares only about himself, but he does not care about the issue of funds, he is quite ready to do it not honestly, at someone else’s expense. The Creator cares about people and life, and not just about himself, while his care is realistic and is done at his expense. The Romantic also cares not only about himself, but his concern for people has no provision and in fact should be carried out not by the Romantic himself, but by someone else who has the resources for this.

This personality typology does not describe personality types, but a life philosophy and a way of behaving in a particular situation. The typology is not intended for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, its tasks are exclusively pedagogical, helping interested people organize their lives in a more ethical, moral way.

Defining oneself in this typology, it is important to distinguish between situational roles, life tactics and life values.

For example, a person usually behaves like a Romantic, and in a particular situation behaves like a Creator, while his dream and goal may be the life of a Consumer.

This typology is extremely mundane, it is easy to understand and use. Let’s take an ordinary situation. Bus stop. There was no bus for a long time, there was a whole line of people waiting, the bus was pulling up…

Here is a man — he honestly stands, observes the queue, but when his turn comes, he will not let anyone ahead of him … He thinks only about himself, others do not bother him, but he follows the rules and in this sense he ensures his rights to himself. This is the consumer.

But someone slipped out of line, pushed the old woman away. This is a Parasite. He thinks only of himself and loves to live at the expense of other people.

The third person stands in line and swears that the people are ill-mannered and there are not enough buses. This is Romantic. He wants the best for everyone, but he does nothing for this.

The fourth took and let the old woman go ahead of him, and even looked so that she would not be crushed. This is the Creator. He cares about others too. At your own expense.

The consumer lives for himself, but respecting the laws and rights of the people around him. If he does not have enough money, he will go and earn himself. Is there someone else taking his place? He will fight with him, but the fight will be fair. Got paid? — The consumer will arrange a holiday for himself and spend the money as he personally wants. And he doesn’t care about you.

However, the Consumer may have «their own», which he also cares about. One for all, all for one, and he does not betray his own. See details →

The parasite lives in caring only for himself, and he does not care about everyone else, and he is quite ready to profit at their expense. If he needs money, it can be begged or stolen. If you have to work, then if possible, throw your work (or responsibility) onto someone else’s shoulders The parasite will always take advantage of this. If a competitor can be stabbed, the parasite uses any means for this. He sucks up to the powers that be, in a situation of danger — he is always ready to betray.

However, the Parasite calls it differently: “You need to take care of yourself. Your own skin is the most precious thing!”

A romantic lives by caring for the common good, at least his heart responds to the needs of people (and living beings in general) next to him. He wants everything to be humane, kind and beautiful, but who will do it — he does not know, and at whose expense it will all be organized, he does not care. He’s sure someone has to do it.

Important: in this typology, “Romantics” are not called those figures of literature and art who traditionally belong to the romantic wing, but only those people who take care not only of themselves at the expense of others.

It’s just that he is weary of work, because work should only be loved. He will give his last cu and then he will wait for someone to dress him. He will shelter ten cats and will be angry with the neighbors who are not satisfied with the heavy smell from his apartment. He will write beautiful love poems and will believe that someone will publish them at his own expense. This is a very beautiful and bright person who sometimes lacks realistic thinking, the ability to think about the consequences and calculate his actions a few steps ahead.

The Creator is a person for whom it is natural to take care of many: about himself, and about his loved ones, and, if possible, about everyone else. If possible, because the creator is a realist and does only what he can organize at his own expense. He has lofty goals, in his work not only earnings are important to him, but also meaning, and he will not sell vodka. He is honest and decent, and earns money in order to do something worthy in life.

Not everyone likes Creators: relatives are not always happy that he also thinks about outsiders, and he needs to be accustomed to the idea of the need for a holiday, because Creators are usually always at work.

Ways of human life do not describe personality types, but a philosophy of life and a way of behaving in a particular situation. For example, a person usually behaves like a Romantic, but in a particular situation he will show himself to be a Creator. At the same time, his dream and goal can be the life of the Consumer. Each of us during the day is both a Creator and a Romantic, and embodies other ways of human life.

To what extent can the axes underlying this typology be applied to individuals of different levels? What clarifications need to be made for different life situations? See Analysis of the foundations of the ethical typology of personality. In any case, it is worth remembering that children, women, and the elderly often live at someone else’s expense. Is it right to call these people parasites? Apparently not. You need to look carefully at the context.

How to determine the eticotype of yourself or another person? Considering that the Consumer, the Parasite, the Romantic and the Creator manifest themselves recognizably differently in different situations, you can answer a number of questions yourself and get confident answers. In some cases, projective testing of the ethicotype can be carried out.
