Studying any model, classification, voluntarily or involuntarily, many ask themselves the question: “Where will I put myself?”.
In the process of reflection, the position on the diagram can change from romantic to consumer, and sometimes to parasite. Which, in the end, leads to the question: “What should I do with this?”. I propose to consider options for using the ethical typology of personality in practice.
Why is there confusion? Because yesterday I was a consumer, now I’m trying to move into the Creator, but in life I’m still more of a Romantic, striving to break into the winners, to gain a foothold in the «Creator» square.
So, everything flows, everything changes. I am changing too. From this point of view, in practice, I propose to consider ethicotypes in a time context. For example,
«Yesterday I» — characterizing the past, for example «Parasite».
«I am now» — in what position I live today. «Consumer».
«Me tomorrow» — what I’m going to become. «Creator».
“I am in life” — while most of the time I am “Romantic”.
By building states on a time scale, one can trace the development (degradation) of a personality from the point of view of an ethic type, compare it with the state in life and develop an action plan that will build purposeful development.
Speaking about development, it should be noted that evolution, the transition from one psychotype to another, does not necessarily have to go through the path: Parasite, Consumer, Romantic, Creator. It is generally accepted that the next logical step is from the Parasite to the Consumer. Of course, a person who is accustomed to taking care only of himself, having started earning money, is unlikely to rush to spend it on someone else. And only when satiated, perhaps, it will turn into romantics and creators (according to Maslow’s pyramid).
I propose to consider the following possible development option. Suppose a parasite, still living at the expense of others, under the influence of books, people, events, passes into Romantics. This person begins to crave happiness for everyone. Further options are possible.
1. He either stops at the standard of living at the expense of others, which is most likely. Until now, he has not tried to earn or raise funds and most likely does not know how and does not want to.
2. Something happens that changes his worldview once again. He begins to earn himself, rising up. Logically, he should go to the Creators. But what happens next? With the ability to earn, there is a need to use money, to spend it. Our hero strives to enjoy the results of labor. It starts spending everything on itself and the environment, rolling back to the level of the consumer. But there is a low probability of remaining in the position of the Creator. Rather, even a low probability, because the Creator is the highest level of development that requires going through and rethinking oneself at each stage.
Another aspect of the practical application of the classification of ethicotypes is the analysis of three human states:
1) How I see myself.
2) How others see me.
3) What I really am.
So, on the axis of coordinates of ethicotypes, we put the answers to the questions in order. We will not dwell on the methods of collecting information. We only note that in the first case this is introspection, in the second — a survey of the environment, the third option is more time-consuming, you may need the opinion of an independent psychologist. One way or another, we arrange the received answers in a coordinate system. The picture shows the consistency of self-perception and relationships with the outside world. A huge number of combinations are possible. To illustrate the approach, consider the following situation:
A man named A. believes that he is the absolute Creator and backs up his opinion with many facts of their lives. He really took the initiative and took care of others, «dragged» the team behind him to achieve goals. But the team saw in the actions of A. the behavior of the consumer, because they believed that all his actions were aimed at satisfying their own needs (getting a personal bonus). And in the evenings, when the fuss ended, A., standing in traffic jams, dreamed of how wonderful the world could be, how comfortable it would be on the landing if someone made repairs. Thus, we see three different ethic types in one person, which pull in different directions, violating the integrity in A. How can all three states be brought to 1 ethic type? If A. chooses to be a Creator, he needs to talk to his colleagues, change the system of motivation in one word, take actions that will give his subordinates the feeling that A. really “cares” about them. The transition from Romantic is even simpler: you need to put the stairwell in order (with the involvement of neighbors, and this will not be a slide into romance, because specific actions have been taken and your own funds have been spent).
An analysis of the situation from the point of view of ethical types allows, at least, to determine the direction for development, to build a simple and feasible plan of action that contributes to the development of relations.
Thus, the theory of ethicotypes makes it possible to reveal many options for the development of a personality in terms of the use of resources, and can also be successfully applied to solve specific practical problems.
