Essential oils against digestive problems
Aromatherapy to relieve diarrhea
La diarrhea is a common symptom that often results from ingestion of contaminated food or water. It can last 1 or 2 days and go away without requiring treatment, but it is very bothersome and can prevent you from carrying out outdoor activities.
THEcinnamon essential oil (cinnamomum zeylanicum) stimulates the digestive system and can relieve indigestion, colic and diarrhea. It can be used in a bath or massage oil1 or internally by diluting a drop in a teaspoon of honey or in a glass of hot non-boiling water2. It can also be used externally, massaging the abdomen.
THEginger essential oil (zingiber officinalis) would also relieve colic and diarrhea. It can be used externally: 2 drops diluted in a tablespoon of vegetable oil, massaged on the stomach in a clockwise direction.
Beyond the aromatic treatment, it is essential to drink plenty of water because diarrhea dehydrates.
