Espumisan for babies – application

Espumisan for infants is given to children to get rid of the symptoms of gastrointestinal disorders. As a result, excess gas often builds up in the baby’s intestines, leading to gas. Espumisan is also indicated in a situation where large amounts of gas may accumulate in the infant’s intestines in the postoperative period.

Espumisan should also be given to a child before diagnostic examinations of the abdominal cavity, i.e. before an ultrasound examination. Thanks to this, there will be no shadows in the test image that will block the view.

Espumisan for babies – composition

The active ingredient of Espumisan for infants is simethicone. 1 ml of Espumisan for infants contains 100 mg of simethicone. Among the auxiliary substances, it is worth mentioning, among others sorbitol.

Espumisan for infants is a safe drug. The only contraindication to use is hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients of Espumisan.

Espumisan for infants has not shown any side effects after administration so far.

Espumisan for infants – dosage

Espumisan for infants is given to the child in the form of drops directly into the mouth or on a dosing spoon. 1 ml of Espumisan is 25 drops, i.e. 100 mg of simethicone.

In the event of excessive gas accumulation, the following dosages are used:

  1. infants – 5-10 drops of Espumisan for each bottle of milk or before each breastfeeding;
  2. 1-6 years – 10 drops of Espumisan up to 3-5 times a day;
  3. 6-14 years old – 10-20 drops 3-5 times a day;
  4. adolescents and adults – 20 drops 3-5 times a day.

When the drug is administered, e.g. before the abdominal ultrasound examination, Espumisan is taken in the amount of 1 ml 3 times a day the day before the examination after each meal and 1 ml on the morning of the examination.

Espumisan for infants should be shaken before use. To measure the number of drops correctly, hold the bottle vertically with the opening down. When we give Espumisan to a child to eliminate gas build-up, it should be administered immediately before or after a meal. If necessary, it should also be given at bedtime. Espumisan is administered until the symptoms subside.

Espumisan for infants is a safe drug. However, it contains sorbitol, which should not be taken by people with rare hereditary diseases related to fructose intolerance.
