Erudition

In the schizoid, it is very deep and extensive (that is, it covers very different areas), because he loves to rummage through books. He sits for a long time in libraries, reads, makes notes, takes full notes of books. Now, when books are inaccessible because of the high cost, and it is difficult to get into the library, I often see schizoids in bookstores, sitting in the corners and taking notes with the permission of the sellers. The houses of the schizoid’s books are in the dust, many are open on the pages being worked on. They lie in different, sometimes unsuitable, places of the apartment. The schizoid rummages through books when there is nothing to do. And he always has nothing to do, so he rummages in books all the time.

The erudition of the schizoid concerns areas far from everyday problems. He will not tell you where to buy what and how much it costs. From this and from fiction, the knowledge of the hysteroid is added. However, if the schizoid is a literary critic or theoretician of versification, then he can also know the details of romantic texts or correct the mistakes that are common with careless quoting: not “the more she likes us”, but “the easier it is …”, not “he, rebellious, is looking for storms…”, but “he, rebellious, asks for storms…”. And yet, for the schizoid, it is much more important how many wives Henry VIII had and not like Milady from The Three Musketeers eliminated Buckingham, but, as mentioned above, Aristotle’s metaphysics, Freud’s metapsychology, Kafka’s surrealism, Koffka’s Gestalt psychology, Kant’s agnosticism, Comte’s positivism …

Memory

We have already noted that the schizoid has a tenacious mechanical memory. He remembers every piece of paper he ever worked on, remembers that he put it in such-and-such a folder with such-and-such materials.

But the semantic memory of the schizoid is especially good (we recall that the semantic memory is mediocre in hyperthymia). In psychastenoid, on the contrary, it is very bad with mechanical memory. But the schizoid also develops his mechanical memory with various mnemonic techniques.

He will build phrases like “every hunter wants to know where the pheasant is sitting” faster than other psychotypes to memorize the colors of the spectrum (red, orange … blue, purple). To remember, for example, the phone 354-70-61, he will build a whole system: 354 is 3, 4, 5; only 4 is swapped with 5; and 6 and 1 are in the middle between 7 and 0, with 6 next to 7 and 1 next to 0.

He can compose special verses to memorize the anatomical structure, “poeticizing” the colon and rectum.

He is generally inclined to develop his memory, arranges tests for it, and trains it. He breaks the material into small fragments, each of which has no more than 7 units (7 plus or minus 2 are remembered), makes cards for each of the fragments and checks himself against these cards.

He tries to use the phenomenon of B. V. Zeigarnik, which lies in the fact that an unfinished action is remembered better. Puts significant material at the edges of the row to use the «edge effect» of Ebbinghaus (the beginning and end of the row is better remembered). He looks for the patterns of his «personal» memory — from nothing to do, he reflects, has fun.
