You have noticed that the Ariston washing machine has stopped washing normally, and the display shows error H20. Moreover, a fault code may appear on any washing mode, however, “Spin” and “Drain” work properly.

What does error H20 mean
Error code H20 for SM Ariston and Hotpoint Ariston indicates problems with water collection. This means that for normal washing it is either not enough, or a lot.

Signs of breakage
Visual signs confirm the presence of a problem in the Ariston typewriter:
- Having drawn water, the washer immediately drains it.
- The washer does not draw enough water to function properly.
- SM Ariston stopped drawing water.
Be careful! If the H20 error is displayed on the display of your Ariston machine (Hotpoint Ariston), followed by another fault code, then the second signal indicates the cause of the breakdown.
Causes and troubleshooting
How can I troubleshoot at home? You need to understand the reason why the washing machine gives an error, and then proceed to solve the problem:
- Water is not supplied to the Ariston machine. Inspect the supply valve, if it is closed, then unscrew it. Maybe the water supply to the whole house was gone.
- With a low pressure, the SMA can also generate an H20 error. Again, open the supply valve to full capacity.
- Fill filter clogged. The fine mesh of the filter does not let in debris that may come from the water utility. Sometimes the filter becomes clogged with small particles, so you need to rinse it and reinstall it.
- Self-draining. The Ariston washing machine tries to take water for a long time, then the fault code lights up. The drain hose may have been lower than the tank. What to do? Raise the hose to normal level, above the tank.
- System failure. Did the code show up for the first time? Try to reset the error by restarting the Ariston machine. Unplug it from the network for 15-20 minutes. After turning it on, the error should disappear.
You applied all the recommendations, but nothing happened. So, there was a real breakdown, you need to decide: fix it on your own or call the master.
- Fill valve failure. SMA Ariston does not take water. After entering the program, it issues the code H20. The valve needs to be replaced.
- Problems with the water level sensor. SM fills in an irregular amount of water or immediately drains it after a set. Check the pressure switch chamber and hose, they may be clogged or damaged. Clean them or replace with new ones. If the level sensor is broken, it must also be replaced.
- The washing machine does not pour water at all or takes it away, but not enough. At the same time, error H20 is on. The reason is in the control unit. Remove and check the block, as well as all its elements – soldering or stripping may be required. In the event of a malfunction, the device must be replaced.
- Broken wires or valve contacts: it will not receive signals from the control board. Check wiring and replace burnt contacts.
