Error F9 in Atlant washing machines – what to do

The Atlant washing machine is equipped with a self-diagnosis system: when it finds a malfunction, it immediately displays a certain code on the display.

Let’s see what the F9 error means on the screen of electronic models. On Atlant washing machines without a display, the F9 error code is identified by the glow of the first and fourth indicators.

Decryption of the code, reasons for the appearance

Error F9 in the Atlant washing machine stands for a malfunction of the Hall sensor of the motor or tachometer.

There are other probable causes of failure, for which the CM issues an F9 error code:

  1. Malfunction of the engine or its contacts with the control unit.
  2. Control unit malfunction.

Before trying to fix the breakdown, we suggest that you perform simpler steps.

Diagnosing and Troubleshooting

The above faults require repair. However, a system failure must first be ruled out. What does it mean? When the control board freezes, the display shows the code erroneously.

To reset an error, do this:

  • Unplug the Atlant washing machine from the mains, wait 15-20 minutes. Now turn it on. If the F9 error is no longer on the CMA Atlant display, everything worked out. If it was not possible to remove the error, we continue to search for a breakdown.
  • Additionally, check the release button. If it sunk or jammed, it could also cause a problem.

Checking the tachogenerator

The tachometer measures the speed of rotation or engine speed, made in the form of a metal ring with wires connected to it.

Error F9 in Atlant washing machines - what to do

The Hall sensor performs an important function: by measuring the speed of movement (voltage), it sends a signal to the control unit. For different modes of washing and spinning, the speed of rotation of the motor is different. For example, for spinning, the speed should increase to 800 rpm.

How can an ordinary user determine that the tacho sensor is out of order? Pay attention to the operation of the washing machine. If this part fails, you will notice that:

  1. The drum abruptly changes the speed of rotation.
  2. When the speed is increased (spinning), the drum rotates slowly.
  3. Too high speed for the washing program.
  4. You get wet clothes after spinning.

Checking the tachometer

Make sure SM Atlant shows error code F9 due to problems with the tachogenerator.

What to do:

  • De-energize the Atlant washing machine by unplugging it from the mains.
  • Unscrew the bolts securing the back cover of the washer.
  • Below is the engine. Remove the belt from it and unscrew the motor mounting bolts.
  • Disconnect connectors and connections.

When you removed the motor, disconnect the connectors from the Hall sensor, measure the resistance on them with a multimeter. Normal readings are approximately 60 ohms.

Set the multimeter to voltage measurement mode. Having attached the probes to the outputs of the tachometer, rotate the engine. The voltage should rise to about 0,2 V.

The video will help you:

It happens that the tachogenerator is loosened due to the constant shaking of the SM Atlant. Inspect the sensor, tighten if necessary.

Hall sensor failure is very rare. How to fix the situation if no problems are found? Check the wires and connections between the control module and the tachogenerator. Tighten connectors or replace damaged wiring.

If the F9 error on the Atlant washer was displayed due to a breakdown of the tachogenerator, it needs a replacement. How to solve a problem:

  • Open the harnesses and disconnect the sensor wires.
  • Remove the protective cover by opening the latches.
  • Loosen the device fixing screws.
  • Remove the faulty tachogenerator, install a new one in reverse order.

Additionally, inspect the engine of the Atlant washing machine. After checking and installing, run CM. See if the F9 error is gone from the screen.

If you are not sure that you can handle the replacement, contact the service center.
