Error F6 on Atlant washing machines – what to do

The Atlant washing machine shows error code F6 on the display – it means a reverse relay failure. On the panels of washing machines without a screen, with electromechanical control, the second and third indicators are lit.

When the Atlant washing machine gives an F6 error, this may be accompanied by incorrect rotation of the motor shaft.

What does error F6 mean: causes and troubleshooting

Due to overheating of the winding or damage to the contacts, the reverse relay failed – F6 was displayed on the screen. Why do you need a relay? The device allows you to start the engine of the Atlant washing machine.

Here is a diagram of the correct installation of the relay:

The arrow should always point up.

What does this mean?

During engine start, starting current flows through the relay coil (2). The magnetic field formed there begins to tighten the core (1), which lifts the contact (3) and closes the circuit. As a result, the motor winding is turned on, it starts and develops speed.

Take a look at the diagram:

Additionally, the contacts of the reverse relay are checked, which could be disconnected, which led to a breakdown. Then you need to install them in place.

How to troubleshoot and correct the situation? Do not rush to immediately disassemble SMA Atlant and check the details. If you see a fault code F6 on the display, try to reset the error.

Pull the CM plug out of the socket. Wait 15-20 minutes. After connecting, it should be possible to remove the error if the reason is a system failure. If the Atlant washing machine again gives an F6 error, the breakdown is much more serious.

Checking the engine

It is necessary to check the operability of the motor or reverse relay. What does it mean? You will have to remove the engine from the Atlant washing machine, and then check the elements of its design.

What do we have to do:

  1. Unplug the washer by unplugging it from the outlet.
  2. Remove the rear cover of the Atlant machine, unscrew the fastening screws.
  3. Remove the drive belt from the engine below.
  4. Remove all bolts that secure the motor.
  5. Unclip the connectors and remove the motor.

Now sequentially check the constituent elements of the electric motor on the Atlant washing machine. In the event of a malfunction, it may be necessary to replace the device or its reverse relay.

How to check or replace is described in detail in the article on eliminating error code F12.

You may be able to remove F6 from the SM Atlant display without the participation of the wizard. Good luck!
