If the Bosch washing machine gives error F 43, first of all you need to figure out what the code means, how to remove the error and restore the machine to working on your own.
In this article, we will look at the main symptoms and causes of the error. We will also tell you what to do if the F43 code is on the display of your CMA.
What does the error mean: decoding and signs
When the CM shows error F43, this indicates that the engine is not rotating or the drum is blocked.
The main sign by which you can also recognize the error (if the code is not displayed) is that the machine rotates the drum with effort and at the same time literally jumps in place.
Causes of error
Is F 43 displayed on the control panel? This is most likely due to one of the following reasons:
- Stuck bearings.
- The tachogenerator SM has failed.
- The triac of the control unit has broken.
- The drum is overloaded or blocked by something.
How to fix the error: do-it-yourself repair
The error requires immediate repair, as it may be associated with a breakdown of important components of the Bosch washing machine.
Having found fault codes, the service center masters carry out diagnostics and the corresponding set of actions. Based on their experience, we can conclude that the solution to the problem is as follows:
- It is necessary to check the drum with your own hands, whether it rotates freely.
- Replace bearings.
- Repair (reprogram) or replace the control unit (electronic controller).
- Replace tachogenerator.
- Repair engine.
Important! It should be understood that the error is critical: the motor may have overheated, and it urgently needs to be repaired or replaced. Do not operate the washer with error F43 – this is fraught with a short circuit and possible fire.
Independent action
It’s worth starting small – something that can be done without special tools and experience: check the drum for overload or find an object that blocks the rotation of the drum, if this is the reason.
To check if the machine is overloaded, stop the wash, remove some of the laundry and restart the program. If the code disappears, then the error reset was successful.
Extraction of a foreign object
Any small and not very object can block the drum. Masters, sharing their experience, say that in their practice, the drum in Bosch washing machines was blocked due to debris, small coins, buttons, cufflinks, and even socks and tights.
In confirmation that a foreign object is preventing the drum from working, you will hear a characteristic knock or noise. Fault codes for Bosch washing machines that accompany this failure do not always appear.
As a rule, the item is located:
- At the bottom of a tank or drum.
- Between the drum and the walls of the tank.
- Wrapped up on a drum.
To find out where the interference is, unplug the machine from the mains and scroll the drum by hand. By knocking, you will almost immediately find out where the object is. If you could not find it right away, arm yourself with a flashlight to carefully inspect the space behind the wall of the tank.
Bosch washing machine disassembly
If it was not possible to remove the item without disassembling the washer, get to the tank through the back wall – remove the back panel, find the heating element under the drum and remove it (at the same time, see if there is a lot of scale on it).
If this does not help, you need to remove the pulley by unscrewing the pulley mounting bolt. After removing the pulley, return the fasteners to their place, just do not twist it too much.
Next, the shaft and drum must be shifted relative to the tank in order to gain access to the object. To do this, you will need a hammer – gently hit the cut of the shaft.
In order not to damage anything, use a tight gasket before hitting with a hammer.
Having shifted the drum, scroll it again – find and remove the object through the hole from which you took the heating element. If you can’t do it with your hands, make a hook from ordinary wire.
In this video you will find answers to the remaining questions on extracting items from the CM:
Assemble the CM, connect to the mains and run a test wash. If the error reset did not occur, and the machine still shows code F43 on the display, a major repair will be needed.
How to fix the error, if you need to replace the bearings, repair the engine or the board, experts know best. Do not take on such complex work – they require experience, effort and a special tool.
