Error F34 in the Bosch washing machine – what to do

The Bosch washing machine has detected a problem and has displayed an F34 error on the display. The washing program does not start and the hatch door does not lock.

In this case, the decoding of the error code F 34 sounds like this: the washer door is not closed, there is no lock lock. Let’s figure out what this means and how to fix the situation.

What to do to fix the problem

For safety reasons, washing starts only after the hatch is closed. And this does not happen immediately after slamming the door. There is also an electronic lock (UBL) that blocks the door, and then signals the control module to start.

Therefore, the malfunction can be mechanical and electronic in nature.

If the Bosch washing machine shows error 34 on the display, do this: reboot the system to reset error F34. What does it mean: unplug the CM from the socket, wait 15-20 minutes.

Look at the display after switching on: if the fault code is on, it means that the error could not be removed.

How to troubleshoot in this case? It is required to check the internal components and parts of the Bosch SM.

What does the error mean: troubleshooting and repair

To understand why the Bosch washing machine gives error code F 34, you need to be attentive to the signs of a breakdown.

Mechanical faults

As a result of long-term operation or careless handling, mechanical parts fail. What to do:

  1. If you are trying to close the door, but something is in the way, inspect the latch tab: it happens that it shifts. To solve the problem, you need to disassemble the handle and install in place of the pulley that holds the tongue.
  2. When the hinges holding the hatch are warped, the latch does not reach the lock hole. The same thing happens when the Bosch machine is installed incorrectly. If its legs are uneven, the hatch may warp. You need to place the washer on a flat surface or twist the side hinges.
  3. The hatch closes as expected, but the locking mechanism does not click. The guide is probably worn out, especially if it is plastic. To install a new part, you need to disassemble the door.

Let’s look at how to properly disassemble the door to replace elements:

  • Remove the sunroof from the Bosch machine by unscrewing the two fixing screws.
  • Loosen the screws around the perimeter of the door.
  • Press the latches around the edges and separate the door into two parts.
  • Remove glass.
  • Remove the pin to detach the handle.

If you only need to adjust the tongue, then put the pin back in place. But if any part is broken, the entire handle must be replaced. Video will help:

If these steps did not help to remove the error, and the F34 code was displayed again, proceed to the next step.

Electronic problems

A characteristic sign of failure of the electronics is the lack of program launch. The hatch is closed normally, but the wash does not start, the error code F 34 is on the display.

  1. UBL. The sunroof blocking device is powered by electrical impulses. Bimetal plates heat up and expand, affecting the lever. Often the cause of a UBL malfunction is voltage fluctuations or natural wear and tear. In this case, it is necessary to replace the blocker.
  2. Carefully inspect the UBL. Perhaps the hole is clogged with small debris that needs to be removed.
  3. The error may be caused by a faulty module. Before taking measures to replace or repair, conduct a thorough diagnosis of all elements of the board. The check can be performed with a Bosch autotest or with a multimeter.

Do not forget to inspect the loop of wires and connections from the control module. It happens that from constant shaking the wires are frayed.
