In the Bosch washing machine, error F23 is on the display, while the machine stopped in the middle of the washing program. You may have found a leak.
All signs indicate that the water is not leaving the washer as it should.
If you have a model of a machine with electromechanical control without a screen, then it gives an error in its own way. On the panel, the RPM lights will glow (flash) at 1000-800, 800-600, 600-400 together with the Rinse indicator.
What does error F23 mean
When the Bosch washing machine shows error F23 on the display, this means that the Aquastop device, which serves to protect against leaks, has worked. Therefore, in order to troubleshoot and remove the error, you need to find out the cause of the system operation.
Let’s sort it out in order.
How to reset the error?
Sometimes an error does not indicate a breakdown, but is simply a one-time system failure. To immediately check whether this is a failure or a real threat of breakdown, try resetting the error. The error reset method is simple:
- Turn off the program.
- Unplug the machine from the mains (unplug the power cord from the outlet) for 5-15 minutes.
- Connect the SMA to the network.
- Start the washing machine. No code? If there is a code, then the error was confirmed.
- If the error does not glow, run the program in which the code appeared. Did the error pop up again?
- If the code lights up again, there is a problem. If the error did not light up again, it may have been a one-time system failure.
If Aquastop worked in the Bosch washer, first of all you are concerned about the question: what to do?
- Disconnect the machine from electricity.
- Shut off the water supply valve.
- If the protection is triggered in the middle of a washing program and there is water in the tub, drain it through the drain filter.
- Empty the laundry tank.
Now you can check what type of Aquastop system your washing machine is equipped with. Therefore, before troubleshooting and troubleshooting, you need to understand the principle of operation of the Aquastop system.
What does Aquastop mean and how does it work?
A Bosch washing machine equipped with a leak protection device must have a bottom tray. The system is equipped with a foam float and is installed on the inside of the pallet.
In the event of a malfunction and leakage, water fills the pan, the float rises, the control module gives a signal to stop the operation of the SM. As a result, the display shows error code 23.
Degree of protection
There are two types of flood protection system:
Partial protection
The system operates according to the principle indicated above.
In the event of an internal malfunction of the Bosch washer and a leak, the float is activated, and the microsensor sends a signal to the board. As a result, the drain pump pumps water out of the sump.
However, partial Aquastop does not protect against external leaks. If the inlet hose is damaged, then there will be no sense in protecting it. In this case, you need to constantly monitor the quality of connections and the state of communication.
Complete protection
In addition to the Aquastop sensor, a hose with solenoid valves is provided. When water is drawn into the tank, the pressure switch notifies the control module – enough is enough. The module sends a signal to the valves, they close, the intake stops. Therefore, there should be no leaks in this part.
The hose itself is treated with a special sheath, so in case of damage, water flows down the sheath into the pan, where Aquastop works.

How to fix the error
How to fix the situation:
- Restart your Bosch washing machine by unplugging it for 20 minutes. When the reason lies in the failure of the controller, the error disappears after a reboot. The method is effective if there is no leak, only a fault code on the scoreboard.
- Check the inlet hose and its connection to the machine. Is there any damage, depressurization of the fastening. The hose may need to be replaced.
- Inspect the detergent dispenser tray. It happens that it is installed unevenly, so water starts to flow out.
The reason may be in more serious breakdowns. Therefore, you need to check and replace if necessary:
- Pressure switch.
- Control module.
- Solenoid hose or its valves.
- Fill pipe.
During any work, unplug the Bosch washing machine from the mains. If, after the repair, the machine no longer gives error F23, you did everything right.
