What should I do if my Bosch washing machine fails? The washing machine shows error code F18 on the display, you notice that the machine does not completely drain the water, as you take out wet clothes from the tank.
At the same time, Bosch models without a screen show an error like this: the RPM lights are on (blinking) at 800 – 1000 or at 400 – 600.
Attention! Fault code F18 is considered critical. Do not start operating the Bosch washing machine until the breakdown has been repaired. This may result in water leakage and flooding.
Causes and signs of error
The Bosch washing machine does not drain the water, error F 18 is on the display. To understand how to fix the situation, you need to understand the causes of the malfunction. What signs can indicate them:
- The program crashes, the water leaves too slowly.
- The system freezes before draining.
- Draining occurs irregularly: the water leaves normally every other time.
- During washing, the drain works, while rinsing – no.
- The laundry is not spinning.
Reasons and solutions
Do not get excited and immediately disassemble the Bosch washing machine. You can remove the F18 error and solve the problem in other ways:
- Reboot. Try resetting the error by disconnecting the CMA from the network. Unplug the plug from the socket for 10 to 15 minutes. If the code disappeared after turning it on, the cause was a system failure.
- Cleaning. Often the cause of poor drainage is blockage, and it can form in different places of the machine. First, check the pump filter – it is located at the bottom of the front panel of the washer, behind the hatch, and is often clogged with threads, hair, and small objects. Turn the handle and remove the filter.
- Now check the drain hose, eliminate the moment of kink, inspect and flush it under pressure. Additionally, the siphon and sewerage are checked, which could also be clogged. Use special products to clean them.
- Installation. Poor water supply and drainage may indicate improper installation of the drain hose. According to the rules, the hose should be at least 50 centimeters from the floor. Check if the connection is correct.
Repair by own hands
You have taken all possible measures, but the Bosch washing machine still gives error F18? Proceed to check the internal parts of the washer.
Before starting work, always disconnect the CM from the mains.
Pump impeller
It is necessary to check the performance of the impeller, which means removing the filter and looking into the hole. Light it with a flashlight and see: the impeller rotates during operation – everything is in order. If not, then you need to inspect it at the time of blockage.
As shown in the photo, the reason for the stop of the impeller was the thread wrapped around the axis. You need to remove the blockage and install the part in place.
Drain pump (pump)
The pump is responsible for draining after washing. If the impeller is not clogged, but still does not rotate, you need to inspect the pump. What does this mean:
- Drain the water from the tank through the filter or hose.
- Remove the top and back panel from the body, lay the machine on its side.
- Disconnect the wires.
- Pull out the pump by turning it counterclockwise.
- Check pump for blockage. If it is a blockage, you need to clean the pump and reinstall. In other cases, you need to install a new part.
Electronics problems
Inspect the wiring harness from the control module to the pump and pressure pump. The reasons may be in the pressure switch, but this rarely happens. However, if other methods did not help to remove error F18, check the pressure sensor of the Bosch washer.
So, you examined the wiring. Minor damage can be isolated, or the area completely replaced.
Lastly, the module is called using a multimeter. You may need to solder or replace elements. So think: sometimes it’s better to call the master.
