Does the Indesit washing machine give an F17 error on the display? This means that there is no voltage on the sunroof lock device.
The model with electromechanical control shows the fault code by flashing the “Spin” – “Delay wash” indicators, the “Spin” – “Extra rinse” lights are on.
What does the error mean – symptoms of a problem
The cause of the error code F 17 may be a loose hatch cover. At the same time, the “Lock” indicator flashes, and washing does not start.
Also a sign of a breakdown is that you install the program, but the machine does not work. What to do? Pay attention to other signals:
- After de-energizing the Indesit washer, the door will not unlock.
- You want to turn on the wash, but the lock does not fix the hatch, it gives an error F17.
The hatch blocking device (UBL) is responsible for the safe operation of the Indesit washing machine. Until the cover is fixed, the water intake will not start. How to fix this and fix the error, we will tell further.
Checking and troubleshooting
Before checking the blocker for serviceability, you need to understand the principle of the lock.
As shown in the picture: after the control unit gives a signal to lock the door, the thermocouple heats up together with the bimetal plate. When heated, the plate lengthens, presses on the latch – the lock is blocked. As long as there is electricity, the lid is securely closed.
If the UBL is functioning normally, then the plate will cool down in the absence of voltage. If the blocker or triac of the control board breaks down, electricity is supplied continuously, so the door will be fixed.
So, you can check the blocking device using a power source. Another way is to use a multimeter. What does this mean?
- Connect the tester to the lock.
- Turn on any program and watch the voltage.
- There is no power – check the contacts of the control unit with UBL.
How to replace the blocker yourself
It is possible that in order to remove the F17 error in the Indesit CMA and solve the problem, you will need to replace the UBL system. If the sunroof is open, do the following:
- Remove the rubber cuff that is responsible for sealing.
- Loosen the screws as shown in the photo.
- Get the lock. It is located between the tank and the front wall.
- Disconnect the wires.
- Install the new retainer in reverse order.
But what if the door is locked? Without panic:
- Remove the top panel of the Indesit washer.
- Tilt the machine back.
- Slide the lock latch with your hand, feeling it between the wall and the tank.
- Open the lid and follow the instructions above.
The recommendations should help reset the F17 error, if it is shown on the display, and return the Indesit machine to working condition. For details on replacing UBL, see the video:
