Error F16 in the Indesit washing machine – how to fix

You can see the F16 fault code on the display if there is a self-diagnosis in the Indesit washing machine. On Indesit electromechanical CMAs, the “Lock” light will be on or flashing.

This malfunction is typical for top-loading washing machines and indicates a problem with the drum.

Causes and signs of occurrence

What does error F16 mean in the Indesit typewriter:

• The motor does not turn the drum.
• The drum is blocked, jammed.

As a result, CMA will not start washing, or will stop the process in the middle of the cycle. Why does the system give an error F 16?

1. Probably the door opened during washing. The washer has two flaps with a latch on the latch. After a long time of use, the latch may wear out, break, which leads to the opening of the shutters and blocking the drum.
2. Overloading the tank can also cause a breakdown. A piece of clothing falls into the latch, which is why it is not fixed.
3. Manufacturing defects.

The consequences of a breakdown

Error F16 is shown on the display – the drum latch may not have worked. What does this mean:

• If the flaps open at high speeds during the spin cycle, they, like a knife, can damage the tank of the Indesit washing machine. Water will start to flow out.
• The sashes themselves were deformed.
• The heating element is damaged.
• All three options happened.

The solution

How to troubleshoot and remove error code F 16?

If the drum rotates by hand, try resetting the error by rebooting for 15-20 minutes.

If during washing you hear a rumble and rattle, immediately turn off the power to the Indesit machine. There are two options to fix the problem:

1. No disassembly.
2. With disassembly.

Without disassembly

1. Try to spin the drum, returning it to its place. If it does not give in, do not apply force, otherwise you will damage the tank more.
2. Take a thin strong wire.
3. Build a hook 0,5 cm wide from it.
4. Insert the hook into the hole, trying to hook and close the sashes.

Disassembled

What do we have to do:

• Inspect the washer, try to understand in what position the blockage occurred. Accordingly, you can get close to the element from above or below. We will talk about the last option – through the bottom.
• Disconnect the Indesit machine from the network and other connections.
• Turn over to the side.
• Having removed the pallet and unscrewed the balancing weight, we get a hole.
• Stick your hand in there and try to close the sash.
